Where did you have your bridal shower?

Tay, on April 15, 2018 at 10:06 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 19
Hey ladies my MOH needs help finding a place to have my bridal shower. Typically restaurants charge per person so that’s a no go.....any suggestions?

If you don’t want to pay per person (I’m assuming she has food figured out already?)
a hotel or a community center if price is an issue could be good options. Does anyone that could “co-host” with her have a house big enough to host your guests? My FMIL recruited a woman from church (who also threw her shower) to have mine at her home since that’s where hers was.

Not all restaurants charge per person. The one we are having our Couple's Shower at has a minimum and no room charge (the room fits 150 seated).

I have never been to a shower that was not held in someone's home or a meeting room of a condo. It seems to be a trend in some places to hold them in venue, but I feel that is a financial burden to inflict on the hosts. If you keep the guest list small, a home should suffice,

My MIL hosted mine at her house. Having it at someone's house is common here.

My bridesmaids are doing mine at a clubhouse where none of us live in that neighborhood, my MOH set up a meeting & paid a small fee with a deposit. Try & see if your MOH can do something like that if she doesn’t find any other venue.

Some restaurants have party rooms they rent for a flat rate. I know where I live there’s one cafe that gives out a space for free, might be one like that where you live. Otherwise places like VFWs, American Legions, town halls, or smaller event rooms in hotels.

I've been to a lot of different ones. Some are at people's houses, some at old antique houses that host events, restaurants, hotel banquet rooms, fire halls, community club houses, church rec rooms. Our rehearsal dinner spot doesn't charge per person, you have to meet a minimum.

Mine will be at the hosts house. But she has a pretty big house. When we had my sister's baby shower we held it at the country club (I worked there at the time so we got free rental). I've been to showers at the winery, community building and once at a hotel inns conference room. You can really make any space work!

Mine will be at my Mom's house. She's renting a tent, tables and chairs for the backyard. She's catering in brunch food.

My MOH rented a large open room. It is used typically for weddings/showers. It is beautiful!

I agree that this is the way to go. Even people with smaller homes often have some great options, like a common room of an apartment building. Or a big backyard.
If you need to go elsewhere though, what about a winery where you can bring your own food in?

Mine was held at FMIL friend's home. My FSIL's was held at the club house of her aunt's community.

We initially struggled to - but then a friend came to the rescue! She owns her own condo and was so kind to host it for me. This made all of our lives easier since it was after work on a Friday night. We could stay as late as we wanted, and play the games/open gifts/ etc in private (vs a public venue).

See if your MOH can ask one of your close girlfriends. All of my bridesmaids went to help set up, and we all helped take everything down after. I made sure it was all clean before we left that night.

Nobody has a big enough home. I would rather do that.

In my area, holding it at a church is the most common. Mine will be at my church, as it’s free to “rent” for members.

My mom wanted to have it at her house, but due to logistical concerns she decided to hold it at a venue instead. There’s a small historical society in the town that FHs parents live in (10 mins from my parents) that has a room for rent for showers and small events like that. For 4 hours it’s less than $250 and includes tables and chairs, and she doesn’t have to worry about parking or bathrooms like she would if she held the shower at her house. She will have it catered, as she was planning on either way. Her and my bridesmaids will decorate.
