Where are all the tall brides with shoe issues?!?!

Mandee, on October 5, 2011 at 8:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 28

Okay, so I see all the posts that you lovely ladies put on here about your shoes and they are so cute! However, unfortunately for me, I am nearly 6 ft. tall and FH is only about an inch or so taller. My dilemma is this... I cannot function in heels... and God bless those of you that can! Smiley smile So I am trying to find some very cute flat shoes, can be open or closed toe... doesn't matter really. I would like them to be either ivory or a plum purple (my main wedding color). I am having such a hard time finding shoes, though! Smiley sad I wear a 10-11 and it has to be wide also.. The curse of being tall AND having big feet! LOL

Any help or sites you can give, would be greatly appreciated!!! Smiley laugh

Thank you!

I thought about doing flip flops, but I would like to try and find a more "dressy" pair. Haven't seen anything I like yet though. Smiley sad

I found cute flats from The Dessy Group. I wear a 12W and they fit perfectly. http://www.dessy.com/accessories/Duchess-Bridesmaid-Ballet-Flat/

I bought them in midnight for the wedding, and then bought another pair in marigold just for fun. One word of advice, is that after about 10 hours in them, my feet start to hurt since the bottoms aren't very sturdy. I'm having a beach wedding so I doubt they'll last more than 10 minutes!

I wear between and 11 and a 12. Check out Torrid (www.torrid.com) if you havent yet! I have to get all my boots there (extra wide calves!) and their shoes regularly go up to 12's! I was fascinated with these yellow flat there today-- and they have a whole collection of cute kitten heels too! I have the same height issues as you AND I have to walk down a LONG semi-steep hill so if I do find heels they have to be chunky. Good luck!

The first I got from Kohls, the second from Dillards.

I don't have big feet, but I forgot to bring shoes when I picked out my dress and now I'm concerned my dress will be a bit short. I considered going with flats or some sort of sandal if it is. Have you tried a Payless? They offer a bridal selection of dye-ables that cover a broad spectrum of sizes and always have wides.

I wore a pair of sketcher flats that had blue stripes down the side. I switched the strings to blue, and then wore a pair of blue knee high nylons. Kept me at the perfect height and made for some amazing photos! Plus when we were coming out of the church down the steps, everyone got to see them and thought they were perfect! Plus, I was able to wear them all night and they were comfy!

*waves* 5'10 1/2 here size 12 foot . . .my situation is a little different as I do wear heels a LOT . . .but FH is 5'8 lol so I went for a mid-heel 2.33in. We don't have a problem with the height differential. Anyway because of my hard to find size, i've been looking at shoes already :

http://www.amazon.com/Dyeables-Womens-Anette-Low-Heel-Wedge/dp/B003O298TA/ref=sr_1_1?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1317914801&sr=1-1 (they can be dyed) or http://www.amazon.com/Dyeables-Womens-Kara-Dyeable-White/dp/B000UK19IM/ref=sr_1_2?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1317914887&sr=1-2

    just for example. . .

Sabrina I love you saying you embrace being tall! I really wish I was taller. Even if by an inch or so. Being short can really suck sometimes. When I buy pants they are usually too long. When I am out with my friends I seriously have to take 2 steps to one of theirs. I'm 5' 3 1\2. Yep got to throw that half in there lol

I'm 5'9.5 and wear a shoe size 11. I searched high and low for flats (FH is 5'10...not much room). I ended up finding them at Nine West Outlet. Love them! Blue are for the ceremony and sparkly are for reception.

I myself am 5'6 and my shoe size is 8. So I don't have this problem but my MOH is like 6'2 with size 10 feet. We found very cute shoes at David's Bridal and we also found some cute flats at Khol's for back up.

Not sure what you're looking to spend, but my friend introduced me to the site endless.com - they have free returns to the U.S., free 2 day shipping, and you have 365 days to return your purchase! I ended up buying two pairs from them today, and will return them (for free) if they don't work out. The site is run by Amazon.com so pretty trustworthy, and my friend orders from them all the time and swears by them.

Here's the link for their "bridal - flats" (they have plenty of other flats, these are just in the bridal section): http://www.endless.com/Womens-Shoes-Bridal/b/382776011/ref=topnav_sd_womensbridal_gw?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=1E0VVDG9EGDMPD2AE3F2&pf_rd_m=AF16NM0QF9TKW&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=homepage&pf_rd_p=1314335542&pf_rd_s=headernav#__size%3D100%26node%3D382776011%26nodes%3D382779011%26sort%3Drelevance-fs-browse-rank%26rnid%3D382779011%26ref%3Dsr_nr_cat_382779011%26pageCode%3Db

I'd also try Zappos, because they have free returns, too. Happy hunting! Smiley smile
