When would you look for a dress?

on May 25, 2019 at 12:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
Okay ladies here is my situation
My wedding is October 3rd 2020. I am 3 months pregnant, I’m not showing yet so I am debating if I should look for a dress now in a week or two or wait until March or April of 2020 when I drop the baby weight and only give myself 6 or 7 months in advanced to get my dress ordered Or not even be able to pick from any dress I want and be limited in my selection.
What would you do??

I would wait until post baby. Even if you lose the baby weight (and that’s a big if) your body might still be different.

I already have one baby and I lost the baby weight fast with her and I gain minimum so I think I’ll be able to lose it fast again.

My worry is not the baby weight. I am worried about not finding what I want within the 6-7 month time limit if I wait post baby

I would buy a dress now and maybe go up a size and then once the baby arrives you can drop the weight and get the dress altered to fit with plenty of time.

That’s what I’m thinking too because 6-7 months to get the right size and all of that seems like i will be limited on what dresses I can pick from. And thank you so much!😊😊

Congratulations on your wedding and baby! Since you already know how your body reacts to pregnancy and how fast you bounce back afterwards I think you should be fine looking now. In my area we have a couple places that sell off the rack dresses: designer discontinued and overstock, one of a kind, etc, and a couple consignment bridal shops that sell previously worn gowns. That would be an option if you wait until after, because from what I understand dresses can take 6 months to come in after you order and that doesn’t give you long for alterations.

    Thank you!😊
That’s one of the things I was wondering is how long to takes to order the dress. So yeah 6-7 months would be pushing it really close!

They say your dress should be ordered at least 9-10 months before your wedding to make sure you get it in time and have time to have it altered. So, like some other ladies have said, I’d shop now and go up a size. Then just have it altered. You don’t want to risk not being able to get the dress you love because of timing! Congrats on the new baby!!

Hey date twin! I would start looking around for dresses now, it doesn't hurt to try on different styles and get a feel for what you'd like. Then i'd say when baby comes (congrats!!!) and you bounce back then start right away on the dress hunt and order your dream gown!

If you’re at your typical weight right now, i would look now and order a size up. You can always take it in with alterations. Giving yourself 6-7 months to find a dress is cutting it close. I found my perfect dress and it takes 4-6 months just to come in! Plus alterations. You don’t want to have to “rush” order your dress... some places may not have that option and their typical wait is 4-6 months, etc.
