When to take off the veil?

Adds01, on January 28, 2014 at 7:15 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

My fiancé and I are not seeing each other before the ceremony. After the ceremony, we will do a quick recieving line outside of the sanctuary and then we will do our pictures together as our guests leave the church. I really don't want my veil on while I'm hugging all those people but would like some photos with my veil and my groom! Also, when are you bustling your dress?? Thoughts? Thanks ladies!

I'm keeping my veil on for all pictures before the reception. I'm doing the bustle right after the pictures. We will try to run upstairs to the bridal suite to avoid hugs and kisses so that everyone can go into the cocktail hour room.

I wore my veil for the ceremony and the pictures after. I bustled my dress when we got to the reception site.

We're doing our receiving line after the ceremony as people go into cocktail hour & then we'll take a few pictures. After that, the veil is coming off and my dress is getting bustled.

The veil will go after pics, and I'm having FH bustle my dress before we go to the reception. I'm definitely going to have to teach him how though!!

I'm taking my bird cage off after pics are done after the ceremony. That is when my dress will be bustled as well.

Luckily my birdcage veil is a clip, so I can have it on/off whenever I need

This may be a silly question but what does "bustling your dress" mean exactly? i haven't shopped for dresses yet. Also, anyone planning to keep the veil on the whole night?

I'm wearing it for the ceremony and a few pictures afterwards. I like photos without the veil on me personally

It's when you pin up the train so it's not dragging.

If your dress has a train, when you have your dress altered, you can have a button or such attached to the dress so this way during the reception or whatever you can hook the train to the button so it isn't dragging. That's a sum up of a bustle.

I love my veil and it isn't long, so I was thinking about taking it off after our first dance.

I left my veil on through all my formalities. I took it out after we got done with cake cutting, which was our last of the night.

I took pics at church inside and outside without the bustle done. I bustled my dress when we got to the reception site during cocktail hour. It took longer than we anticipated so just don't wait until right before you're starting introductions in case something goes funny.

I'm attaching some pics showing what bustling is cause someone asked. There are different styles of bustle they can do (over, under) and there are different systems to bustle. Some people have buttons, mine were color coded ribbons. What you'll have depends the preference of whoever is doing your alterations.

I will not be wearing a veil. I know it's not traditional to do so, but since my wedding will be outside, with a 'Garden Feel' to it, I thought I wanted to make my hair looking natural with an orchid on one side in the hair and that's it. I will be bustling my dress right before we go into the reception hall.
