When to set up an outdoor ceremony?

Heidi, on February 6, 2020 at 5:20 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5
Hello! I am getting married June 27, outside in a garden in South Dakota. Our summers are very humid and tend to be windy. I was planning on setting up the majority of the ceremony the day before; chairs, decorations, arch. Basically everything except for the guestbook table. Should I keep this plan, or wait until the day of? I am worried that something may get wet or damaged if left out overnight? How did you guys do it?

I wouldn’t set up anything that can blow away so I’d be hesitant to set up the decorations and arch the day before. Chairs should be ok, but that really depends on how windy it is and how sturdy the chairs are.

Our outdoor ceremony was set up by the venue but they didn’t put chairs out until about 45 minutes before our ceremony was set to begin.

I agree on the set up ,just not everything set up the day before. Like, if you have real flowers being put up/out I’d wait til’ the day of . Especially if the humidity is that fierce.

We are waiting until a couple hours before the ceremony to set up. I would be stressing constantly all night long if I knew everything was sitting outside overnight and could possibly get damaged or stolen. My mom’s sisters are very good at that sorta stuff, so I’m giving them pictures of what I’m wanting (because it’s so hard to adequately covey a visual into words), and they’re going to work their magic for me while I get my makeup done. Do you have any friends or family members who you could maybe ask for help setting up the day of?

I would say chairs, arch, and furniture could be set up the day before. Those should be able to be wiped off easily if they get wet. I would wait for all decor.
