When to send out save the date and wedding invitations ?

Congratulations on your engagement!! Save The Dates are typically sent out 6-8 months before the wedding. Invitations are sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding. I would send out Save The Dates sometime in the next month or so, and send out invites February. Remember that everyone who gets a Save The Date should also get an invitation. View Quoted Comment I typically recommend mail for both, since people can put the Save The Date on their fridge and have the paper in front of them, while email could get lost in the inbox/sent to a junk mail folder on accident/overlooked/etc. However, postage can add up (in addition to the cost of the Save The Dates), so if Save The Dates aren't in the budget, emailed ones are fine. For invitations, I definitely recommend mailed invites.

Invites are sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding with replies due back 3 weeks before. There is no reason to send them earlier or later.
Save the dates are sent 10-12 before.
