Just Said Yes October 2020

When to send my invites

Harlee, on December 1, 2019 at 7:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
So I’m getting married in October of 2020, & I’m struggling with my timeline of sending out my invites. I see timelines that seem WAY to early, and some that seem too late considering I have family in different states. Any advice? Thanks in advance 🙂

If you have a lot of out of town guests I would send save the dates before invitations. Invitations shouldn’t go out any earlier than 10 weeks before the wedding.

Also having an Oct 2020, and have out of state guests as well. Save the Dates are being sent out between mid January and early February, but the out of state guests who we definitely want there already know the date.

Invites we'll probably send July, as I expect we'll have to chase people down for RSVPs anyway.

Are you considering sending save the dates? These would act as notice for guests out of state about the wedding so you don’t have to send the invitations out too early!

If you’re planning a hometown wedding, save the dates are typically sent out between four and eight months in advance of your wedding. Invitation would be sent out six to eight weeks before the event for a hometown wedding, however, as you have guests coming from out of state, eight to ten may be best.

I got married October of this year. We had some guests coming from out of state, and all of our guests had to travel at least one hour, so we decided to send Save The Dates. Our STD's went out 6 months before our wedding (so April). We sent out our invitations around 8 weeks before our wedding with our RSVP deadline 2 weeks before the wedding to account for our head count deadlines.

I got married October of this year. Probably about 70% of our guests were from out of town, and many of them across the country. We did Save the Dates about 8 months out, in February. We sent out invitations in the beginning of August, as our wedding was October 12th, and our RSVP by date was September 18th. Worked great for us!
