When to Hire a Day of Coordinator

akshali2000, on June 22, 2017 at 3:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

For people who hired a separate Day of Coordinator (not the person who comes free with the venue, someone separate you hire on your own), when in the planning timeline did you hire them? And what price range do they typically run?

I'm guessing for sure you should have your venue and date booked but are there any other considerations for when you should start looking for/hiring a DoC?

I hired mine about 4-5 months prior. There is no "typical" cost, except what they typically cost in your area - the price varies with experience, location, level of service, etc.. I paid $1800 (10 hours, 2 assistants). I live in NYC.

We hired ours about 11 months out, we're anticipating spending about $1500, pre-wedding weekend work is charged at $50/hour, and wedding weekend is charged at $200/hour

I hired mine at least 4 - 5 months prior. We met several times beforehand. Paid $750 for her and 2 assistants. They were there for at least 9 hours. I live in NC. I already had my venue, my decor concepts, had picked my vendors.

I hired ours about a year out. $1500 but she has been so helpful this whole time, and is not just a day of, but our month of coordinator. Worth every penny!

I hired mine about 13 months out, right after booking our venue, and paid $1,800 for month-of coordinating. She's been a great resource throughout the whole planning process by answering any questions I've had and giving great vendor recommendations.

We hired a coordinator for day-of coordination and decorations. She was hired a little over a year out and totals $1,500 for both services.

We will be getting married in the Chicago suburbs.

I hired my DOC over Memorial Day weekend (end of May --- so five months out) and she's $750 for the whole day. I'm glad we hired her when we did, because she has decorative elements we can use for no charge (less for me to buy, store and then have to try and sell after the fact).

To be honest, i wasn't looking to hire a DOC until I realized that with no wedding party I'm lacking helpers for decorating the venue day-of.

I'm getting married in Oct. 2018, and I hired my month of coordinator in May 2017. My venue requires a month of coordinator so after booking my venue, I booked that next. I'm paying $2,500 for about 8 weeks worth of help. I'll have the coordinator plus her assistant all day.

I hired mine about 4 months out and paid $895 which seemed like a steal for all that she did. I'm in Texas so that might be the average here.

I hired mine through my venue, but she has her own company and is a preferred vendor as well for my venue. We hired her for DOC and month. We paid $1500.
