When to go wedding dress shopping?!

Rachel, on July 12, 2017 at 11:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

My wedding is almost a year away! (Yippeeee!!!!!)

Today my mom sent me a mother of the bride dress that she wants to purchase. It's a beautiful dress, matches the color scheme, and she loves it so I told her to go for it but at the same time I was like JEEZ momma is on top of it!!! I haven't even thought about when to go dress shopping yet but realized a ton of my engaged friends with weddings around my time frame and a little after have either said yes to a dress or have began the dress process! I haven't even googled dress stores near me yet! Lol when is a good time to go ?

Mine is over a year.. Going to my first bridal show in August. I found a dress I loved, besides the bottom. Couldn't buy it because the bottom was so bad. Smiley sad

Yeah I would get started now! You're at a good time because the new fall lines are starting to come out so there may be a lot of trunk show options and sample sales from spring collections!

Hi Rachel. I've been to two stores and have an appointment for a third store on Saturday. I really love a Pronovias that I tried on at the first store but am not 100% sure if its the one I want. The sales lady at the salon told me that I would need to order the Pronovias dress no later than September because it usually takes a year for them to arrive since each dress is made in Spain. I'd start shopping as soon as you can so you are sure you have plenty of time for them to make and then alter the gown.

Its not too early. I went at 10 months and was told my dress would come in between April and July. It came in at the end of April. But I've read stories of people ordering their dresses before I did and they still don't have it. I cringe every time, I cant imagine.

I'd definitely start looking now to give yourself plenty of time to look and order.

I got engaged last November and started looking like a week later--it ended up taking me five months to choose something.

My daughter made a appointment for late August. We are going to one bridal salon that day. She is getting married in November 16 2018.

I bought mine about a year out from my wedding (October) and it just came in about 3 weeks ago. Now is the perfect time to start looking. But, don't feel pressured to purchase. Even if you like something, you have time to shop around at other places before picking a dress.
