Dedicated March 2020

When to go wedding dress shopping?

Sarah, on January 25, 2019 at 3:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Hey,

So my wedding seems far out. March 13, 2020 but it’s actually a year and some change. I’ve been told to not wait less than 9 months to a year out to look for a dress. Is a year too soon? I’m too afraid of calling around and getting judged. Some vendors say “oh we haven’t even opened the 2020 book yet.” I get discouraged and then just do nothing until it gets closer and closer. I love Mikaella Bridal. Her dresses speak to me. I’m dying to try some on. When do you think it would be a good time to look?

Im so excited about my wedding but then I feel like I have too much time and then just put it off and it makes me feel bad.

Let me know what you think!

I e always been advised to start looking 12 months out and make a final decision about 9 months out. In just 5 weeks you’ll be one year out. I don’t see anything wrong with you looking around and getting ideas.

I didn't find any vendors that didn't open the 2020 book yet, or if they haven't they were happy to open it for us. I am an April 2020 bride and I bought my dress late December 2018. It won't be in until early May and then I will have to do alterations. I say if you find a dress you love, buy it! You never know if they could go out of business or stop making that dress you love!

Plus, there is no harm in just going to try some on and getting an idea of what you like and don't like!

I just wanted to drop by and say your wedding is on my birthday! So cool. I agree about the dress, there’s nothing wrong with looking now!

I don't think it's too early at all... especially considering I'm a December 2021 bride and have gone to try on dresses already lol. But mine was just to get an idea of what I liked so I don't waste time on styles that didn't suit me when I'm ready to buy. I think you could definitely go now with the intent to buy if you wanted to.

Our wedding is February 1 2020 and I already got my dress. None of the bridal stores gave me a hard time about it being early and I’m glad I got it earlier because we might add some straps to it and all so there will be plenty of time to find the right fabric and all. also my dress is a 2017 style and the store told me usually they only carry the two latest seasons so if I would have waited I probably wouldn’t have found this dress.

I got mine about 11 months before. I'm kind of wishing I would've waited a little longer, only because I got a clearance dress that is going to have to be let out a little bit, and now I'm paranoid it won't fit due to all of this time I have to think about it.

Girl, you should be able to go shopping whenever you want! Don’t get alterations yet, but there’s certainly no harm in looking!

I'm an October 2020 bride and I scheduled an appointment for trying dresses on in April! I don't think you can ever start too early! Just go and try on to see the styles you like best and you can always schedule another appointment to go and buy a dress!

I don't have the exact date yet for my wedding. It's tentative on October 19th of this year, so as soon as I have the funds i'm going to get my dress, even if I don't have the venue yet.

I would definitely say 9-12 months are the months you should go in. I was 10 months out (Dec. 2018) and my dress won’t be in the store till the end of May. Thank goodness my wedding isn’t until October.

I called a bridal shop at my year mark and they told me I definitely should come in asap since some dresses can take 8-9 months to come in
