When to get the dress

Nicky, on January 5, 2020 at 7:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
Hello ladies!
I am recently engaged, and we have decided to get married in August 2021. I wanted to know, when should I start trying on, deciding and purchasing my dress? I want to get it early enough to make alterations, but I’m so scared of getting super fat or losing weight or even changing my mind on the dress I end up getting (if too soon.) when did you begin shopping and when did you get married?

For scheduling reasons I had to look at dresses a bit early, so I shopped 15-16 months ahead. I highly advise that you do not start looking at dresses unless you are ready for the possibility of buying that day, cuz you never know when you will find the right one. I think 1 year out is a good time to start looking. You have a few months to figure out what you like, I would just make sure you order about 9 months out.

You should order a dress by 9 months out. Most dresses take 6-8 months to come in, so you need to order before then. If you gain or lose, they can alter your dress. You will have more than one fitting, up to two weeks out, I believe. I found my dress one year out - it will take six months to come in. I suggest looking online at what you like for styles and designers. They will ask you for input when you shop.

Normally you want to start looking a year in advance. I get married in October this year and found my dress October 2019 so it was perfect timing. Some bridal places take anywhere from 4-6 months to get the dress but my bridal boutique said mine would be ready end of this month so a little sooner than expected. I won't begin having alterations done until about 4 months prior to the wedding.
