When should you know rehearsal details?

Lauren, on November 12, 2019 at 11:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
My wedding is a Saturday and I'm pretty confident they will have a wedding the day before, so I'm assuming it will be earlier in the day, but I would like to be able to start planning the rehearsal day plans! When did you find out from your venue what time they scheduled you to have your rehearsal? Thanks!

Our rehearsal time was at a predetermined time so we found out when we were reading their wedding policies before we ever booked. If you want to start doing plans for that day I would contact them to ask

Our wedding is this Saturday, tentatively our rehearsal was scheduled for the Thursday before but a wedding did not get booked for the Friday before so on our 30 day appointment it was confirmed our rehearsal was scheduled for the Friday before our wedding.

We actually scheduled our rehearsal the day we signed our contract. Since they will most likely have an event on the Friday before our wedding, we scheduled our rehearsal for the Thursday before.

We were guaranteed the space a month prior. We reserved a room at a local restaurant months before we knew for sure if we could use of wedding venue for the rehearsal, but we wanted to make sure we had a place for the rehearsal dinner. Our backup plan was to have everyone practice at the restaurant or the morning of the wedding. Our venue had a set time for rehearsal so we didn't get to pick the time. If I were you, I wouldn't assume anything. I would call your venue ASAP to find out especially if you plan on having a rehearsal dinner. It is usually expected for there to be a dinner following rehearsal so if that isn't set up yet you need to get that handled too.

If you don't already know, I'd confirm with your venue when you'll be able to have your rehearsal and/or how soon they'll be able to confirm when you'll be able to have your rehearsal date/time? (Different venues have different policies regarding when they can confirm the date/time.) Daughter's venue routinely schedules rehearsals for Saturday night weddings for Thursday at 4 pm, so we knew that from the time we signed the venue contract. Her wedding was in January, not a super-busy time in our location, and we were planning for about 50 guests (all OOT + regular rehearsal guests). We identified a couple local restaurants and talked with them about 4-6 months in advance about whether they could accommodate us; and then we confirmed our booking with the restaurant daughter chose about 3.5 months before. We included separate invitations for the welcome-rehearsal dinner with the wedding invitations, so everything needed to be printed (Zazzle) and ready to go out 8 weeks before the wedding week.

My venue couldn't/ wouldn't guarantee me that I could have a rehearsal in the space of my wedding and they wouldn't know until 2 weeks before my wedding if I could even use the space for rehearsing. So I decided to book the banquet room for the day before. This will also work out well because then we can decorate the day before the wedding and not have to worry about it for the day of the wedding.
