When should i start getting my wedding dress fitted?

Jenna, on February 15, 2020 at 9:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I fell in love with a dress two months after getting engaged and bought it! It’s at least 3-5 sizes too big because I got it from an outlet but so worth it!

I’m wondering when how many months before my wedding I should start getting fittings done and how many fittings you think I’ll need?
Thanks all!
Details: Wedding is May 2021, dress needs to be taken in and shortened, also need to add straps to the dress (sooo not into pulling my dress up all night)

I would find a seamstress first to see their availability and what they suggest. I’m getting married in October and mine said July/August.

They’ll be able to tell you a good timeline for what needs to be done specifically for your dress.

I’d go with November of this year. Incase they have to order any special fabric/beading/lace it’ll give you a nice cushion for any emergency or rush orders.

Typically 2-3 months before your wedding is when you start alterations. Since your dress seems to need a lot of work, I’d start around 5-6 months. You don’t want to start too early, as your body could change due to many factors.

I was told 8-12 weeks for mine, but yours requires a good deal more work than mine will. I would say start at 5 months out. They will probably have a few alterations and can schedule your final fitting much closer to the wedding.
