When should i look for a wedding dress?

Courtney, on July 8, 2021 at 7:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I am getting married September 20, 2022 and I plan on losing weight for it. I've started seeing a personal trainer and I've already lost a few pounds (I'm 5'4 and was 185, now 178). How should I go about shopping for a dress?

I would start looking online throughout the summer and then going in stores October with plans to order by late November. Dresses can take a while to come in depending on designer so its always recommended to order 10-12 months out. Of course there are stores with significantly shorter times. I wouldn’t worry about sizing too much. A great seamstress can take a dress in a few sizes without a noticeable difference.

I agree with Lauren, have a good idea of what you want and plan to shop 12 or so months out. Not only can some dresses take quite a while to be delivered, depending on the nature of your alterations, that can take quite a while too.

It doesn't hurt to look early and then you don't have to rush a decision. You might also find some nice coutour dresses on sale. I went to a boutique bridal shop last week and they had beautiful dresses for like $600, so looking early never hurts. LIke the girls above said, alterations can be done.

I agree with others to start looking no longer before the one year mark. Browse online and get a feel f or shops and styles but wait until September/October.

It is suggested you order your wedding gown at least 10 months before you wedding. This allows time for it to arrive and be altered.

I am getting married this September and I got my dress in December. It took 4 months for the dress to come in and 6 weeks for it to be altered. I hope that the timeline helps!

Hey, I'm also getting married next September and let me tell ya- you should start looking now! The staff at the bridal shops all told me about how far behind things are running. There is a high demand bc of covid weddings all taking place now, plus regularly scheduled weddings, then there are supply chain and shipping issues because of the huge unemployment rates.

Thank you so much! I’ve been looking online and I’ve gone in just to see how different things look on me. All of that is really good to know
