What's your ceremony time and why?

I really want to do 2pm because we are leaning towards a early reception ( 4-830 park bbq) and later party the night away with each other and few friends. We have a lot of guest who are from church and older and I don't see them staying much longer after dinner. Anyways what made a lot you choose...

Religious reasons, budget, venue availability or it just works out for you?

3pm because that's what time our church does Sunday weddings. Which actually worked out perfectly because the reception venue could accommodate 4pm or after.

5:30pm because that is what time my venue starts outdoor weddings. We are getting married at a hotel on the beach so they are very busy during the day with all the beach goers.

We are having refreshments at the church to accommodate our church members and older people and whoever. Which we are giving an hr to 1 1/2 hrs. This also includes travel time to the reception and pictures. Everything flows with maybe 30 mins as down time. So the "reception" at the church is open and not formal. Stay, leave or sit around. Food will be served at 430 to give us a chance to get settled.

Our ceremony time is 7:30pm because that is what was available on the day we wanted.

There will plenty of food, refreshments and activities for the guest to do. No gaps like that. I just didn't state it in the original post.

    5pm ceremony

    6-7pm cocktail hour

    7-8pm dinner

    8-11pm dancing

We choose to do ceremony later because the majority of our guests are younger and like to stay out later. Plus normal dinner time around here is 7pm

5pm ceremony, reception (same location) ends at 11pm. The venue we chose pretty much has the timeline set for you.

6pm. Sunset time will be 6:50 and we want enough time to get through the ceremony and get a few pictures before the sun is set.

    Ceremony 5 to 5:30

    Cocktail Hour/Pictures 5:30 to 6:30 pm - sunset!

Reception 6:30 to 10 pm - first dance, parent dance, then food. I get hungry!

6 pm, because it's the earliest we could get it. We get the venue starting at 4 pm and want time to get ready and do WP/family photos

Ours is 5:30 pm to allow for people to leave work just a little early, if they plan to attend. Cocktails will be at 6:00 and dinner should begin by 7:00. Cake cutting will be 8:30 pm...flaming desert at 9:00 ish. Our venue requires the event to be over by 10 pm...so no late night for us or our guests.

I wanted a cake and punch wedding but FH insisted on having a meal so I pushed the ceremony to 4.

@OP yep we'll be taking sunset portraits! We're doing a first look and most of our pictures beforehand, ceremony should be long at all, then leave to take photos before the sun goes down

For those wanting sunset photos, but need an earlier start time - talk to your photographers! Our ceremony is at 3PM and will be over in 15 minutes, then after that we'll be taking remaining wedding party photos (we're doing most of those before the ceremony) and a few family photos.

Dinner is 5:30-7 and right around 6:15 my fiance and I are sneaking out to go take photos, just the two of us, at the mountain-backdrop field next door to our venue during sunset. Our photographers suggested this and I think it's a great plan! Smiley smile

11am. It's a small wedding and we're leaving for our honeymoon immediately after the reception. Plus our wedding is 11/11 at 11. Smiley smile

2:30p bc the latest we could do at church was 3p, leaves enough time in between ceremony and reception to do pictures and actually be able to eat some food during cocktail hour
