What's your ceremony time and why?

Shayna, on August 21, 2017 at 10:46 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 44

I really want to do 2pm because we are leaning towards a early reception ( 4-830 park bbq) and later party the night away with each other and few friends. We have a lot of guest who are from church and older and I don't see them staying much longer after dinner. Anyways what made a lot you choose your timing? Religious reasons, budget, venue availability or it just works out for you?

Ours is at 5:30 because it's at a vineyard and the tasting room closes at 5:30. Didn't want to push it later because sunset is around 6:20

3PM because I'll never forget the wedding where I didn't get to eat till 9 at night and wanted to die. My guests will be fed by 5:30 this way, a normal damn hour for dinner!

5PM so we can get sunset pictures during cocktail hour, and with venue time blocks it just worked out that way

6:00, because we wanted an elegant evening feel. I would have preferred 6:30 personally, but H's dad is a super early eater and we knew we had to have him fed before 8.

4:30. Because I just thought it was a good time. Cocktail hr from 5-6 and then dinner served at 6:15, a normal hour for dinner! I also didn't want a super late wedding. I want everyone gone shortly after 10 so I can spend alone time with my hubby!

Ours is at 5:00 p.m. Our wedding is on a Friday so we know most of our guests in town will be taking a half day or a day off of work. The good majority of FH's guest are OOT so they are traveling. Most of his immediate family is flying up the night before and the rest of the guests can fly up Friday morning.

I'm thinking around 4 or 5pm. That way no one has to sit in rush hour traffic coming to or from the wedding.

3:30 pm because we're the week before fall back and we lose more daylight. We did it this way so we can have an outdoor ceremony with plenty of light and by the time we're done with pictures and begin the reception inside it will dark outside.

4pm. Ceremony should take about 45 minutes. Cocktail hour is technically set to start at 6 but will be open to guests when they start to arrive. The venue for ceremony/reception are only 3 miles apart, but right near Michigan avenue in Chicago so we didn't know how long it would take guests with traffic. Dinner served at 7:15

Sunset weddings are gorgeous. Maybe for our anniversary. My fmil is old and cringed at the thought of a 5pm wedding lol. Plus I want to spend most the evening with my hubby. I can't stand for a wedding and ceremony to go all day. I went to one that started at 3 we and we didn't eat until 830p. I left right after.

5:30 pm ceremony start time over here. Since our wedding is in January, we are going to be finishing up the ceremony right before the sun starts going down. We are doing a first look at 3:30 (ish).

We definitely wanted an evening reception, and our venue defaults to 5 o'clock ceremony start time. I requested that we move it up to 4:30, because it's tradition in the area where my mom grew up to get married on the half hour. It's supposed to bring the couple good luck, because the hands of the clock are on the upswing. So ceremony at 4:30, Cocktail hour starting sometime around 5 (hoping for a 15 minute ceremony). Dinner starts at 6.

6 p.m. because it's the summer and I want to let the weather cool down if necessary. We are in the Philly suburbs. It's also a Friday night, so I want to let guests not have to take too much time off of work if they want to attend.

Our ceremony is at 3. I'm kinda disappointed because I really wanted to have a sunset wedding, but we have a crowd of early eaters who I didn't want to complain haha. Plus our ceremony site is about 25 minutes from the reception venue, so I needed to factor in some travel time. Our ceremony is 3 to 3:30. Cocktail hour is 4 to 5. And dinner will be served at approximately 5:30. Reception will end at 10. I'm pretty satisfied with the timeline aside from being disappointed at missing sunset pictures.

7pm because that's the option the venue gave me and the cocktail hour starts at 8pm and I don't want gaps.
