What's REALLY "your song"?

Lynnie, on March 16, 2018 at 2:05 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 64

Do you and your fiancé(e) have "a song"? And is it different than what you're using for your first dance?

We have a few songs that always make us think of each other, but none of them were appropriate for a first dance! Smiley xd

We didn't care if it was first song material, or not. We danced to our song Cinema, because it's our song and the music we connected over.

    Jason Derulo "Marry Me"

I was in love with the song when we first met. We watched the video a lot and the lyrics were so representative of our relationship for well... the entire time. We also used the song and video to create our own inside jokes.

I am trying to convince him to add it into the wedding somehow. Smiley smile

My fiancé was making dinner for us one night and he had music playing. "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica came on and he grabbed me and we started dancing together in the kitchen. While we were dancing, we were kissing and he was softly singing the words to me. Seriously, that one moment was so romantic!!!! And because of that feeling he gave me, that is the song we are using for our first dance Smiley heart

Our song is called "Bloom" by the Paper Kites. Before we even got engaged, we always said it would be the song played as we each walk down the aisle. It's so special and important to us. Our first dance is going to be "Wake Me" by Bleachers. A tad unconventional as a first dance, but another song that means a lot to us!

Our song has always been Biz Markie “Just a Friend” but I found the original song that’s sampled in that track (“You Got What I Need” by Freddie Scott) and it’s actualy perfect and romantic. It’s a little faster than a slow dance but it’ll work.

We aren't dancing at our wedding, since it's a small reception in a restaurant, but our song is "Little Trip to Heaven" by Tom Waits. The second time I flew up to visit him when we were dating, he put that record on and when the song came on, he grabbed me and we slow danced in his living room. It's probably the cheesiest thing we've ever done, but I still get teary eyed thinking about it.

He's making a playlist to play at the restaurant and he joked that that song will be on it at least 3 times!

The Girl by City and Color not inappropriate, I just really like James' Arthur's Say You Won't Let Go for our first dance. I'm torn between the two.

@Lynnie, you can't just say something like that and not share what the song is Smiley smile

Hahaha I can elaborate! Smiley shame We have two songs that are like "our songs"...

As you guys can tell I'm a little enthusiastic, and when we first started dating I would always tell my husband that he was the best.... aroooounnnd (the Karate Kid song). We joked about using it for our reception entrance but realized it would not come off well!

Our second song is the "(expletive) don't kill my vibe" song by Kendrick Lamar! Smiley tongue We've seen him together a few times in concert, and I used to jokingly tell people that it would be our first dance song when I got sick of the "when are you getting married" question and was trying to deflect. Don't think that song choice would have gone over well with the parents!

Wow that worked out so well! As a guest I'd also kind of love hearing the Biz Markie version Smiley heart

Accidentally In Love, Counting Crows. We still reach for each others hands when this comes on the radio or we hear it in passing. Smiley laugh

Our song is Crazy for You by Madonna. We both can't really remember how it became our song, which I think is hilarious but even when we were just friends, it was our song. We are doing it for our first dance :-)

You & Me - Dave Matthews Band - we are dancing to the first two verses of that song then switching to My House by Flo-rida to get everyone on the dance floor.

I am not too keen on having everyone staring at us for 3 minutes.

I'm not sure if it will be appropriate or not, but our first dance song will probably be this really sweet Korean song. My husband is from South Korea and I wanted him to fully understand everything on our special day. Most of our guests will be American, but I don't think they will mind not being able to understand because you can definitely feel the romantic vibe of the music. ^^

Over 2 minutes is much too long; we kept our song to a minute and a half. It felt long enough.

Oh why not? Is it due to space issues? My wedding was at a restaurant we had dancing, etc.
