What's one thing your fiancé(e) would spend less on for the wedding?

Lynnie, on July 9, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 143

If you handed over complete planning control to your fiancé(e) - what's one thing they'd choose to spend way less money on? Where would they decide to pull back in the budget?

He doesn't understand the importance of photography, but that was my must-have! He would also probably spend less on the venue if he had a choice.

Photographer, even though it's literally the best deal ever. He doesn't like how photographers charge so much and doesn't understand that they do more than just shoot the photos on the wedding day. They go back and remove unwanted/unneeded photos and they edit the remaining photos. He says "If they are good enough, they shouldn't need to edit them." I've told him if we got a photographer THAT good, we would be spending thousands!

I don’t think he would spend less on anything! Maybe the photobooth if I had to pick

Probably photographer as well. We got good pricing but it’s still a big expense and we went back and forth we over a second shooter because she didn’t want to spend the money.

We actually made the budget together and he’s done a lot of research himself. I think the only thing would be decorations because he’s more of a simple guy but I told him my vision and he told me his and we blended them. He’s happy with almost all of my purchases 😊

Our open bar. He doesn't drink so he thinks its a waste of money for him to pay for something that he's not partaking in at our wedding.

FH hates pictures of himself so he’d probably elect to skip a photographer all together. He’d probably also think my dress budget is way too high.

I don't really think there's a major one. I'm not getting my hair or makeup professionally done, and that's partially because of his wishes.

That’s where we are at. The things we wanted to save in are the same.

The cake. I agree with him, but it's hard finding good cake bakeries in our area.

Photos and videos. The one I liked would cost us $6k. I showed him the quality of the less expensive ones and he understood. But I feel guilty as this would cost a chunk on our budget so I’m thinking of paying them off myself.

Ummm...everything?! He’s given me free reign and is allowing me to run the show and call all of the shots, but if it had been left up to him, we would’ve spent WAY less. Photography was the most important thing to him, so that’s the only splurge he would’ve made.

Having his mom there. We are supposed to get married in November but just found out that his mom has stage 4 pancreatic cancer so we have decided to do a small family ceremony and BBQ at FIL's house in 5 weeks so she can see her baby boy get married. We will still have the big celebration in November (she insists) but now I get to marry my best friend 3 months early.
