What's on your wedding menu?

Blair, on October 17, 2019 at 1:46 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

I can't decide what foods to have. I know I want it to be a southern style home cooked meal but without the fried foods. Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance!

Gumbo, shrimp and grits, baked ham, crawfish boil, and chicken and dumplings are all good non-fried entrees. Barbecue is also always a hit—ribs, pulled pork, brisket, etc.

For sides, collard greens, black-eyed peas, baked mac and cheese, cornbread, biscuits, and green beans with salt pork are all non-fried options.

I grew up in Kentucky and thinking about this is making me miss it 🤤

We're doing grilled chicken or pork tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, side garden salad, homemade rolls, and sweet tea!

We had a more formal meal, but we've been to lots of weddings that had BBQ style food. I've always noticed macaroni & beans are a huge hit, and pulled pork sandwiches. That seems to be what people take the most of. I'm a huge coleslaw fan, and my husband loves fried okra. I also like when a garden salad or caesar salad is included too.

We had a taco bar and a dessert table with a s'mores bar and everyone loved it!

We're serving stations at our wedding. In addition to these selections, we added two vegetable side dishes. Not sure what station they'll offer them at.

    Carving Station

Chef carved Baron of Beef & oven roasted turkey breasts served with mini palm buns or dinner rolls, creamy horseradish sauce & cranberry relish
    Mac & Mashed Potato Station

Signature Mac & Cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, crispy bacon bits, chives, butter, sour cream
    Fajita & Taco Station
Fajita chicken strips on a bed of saute'd peppers & onions, ground taco meat, hard shells & soft tortillas, shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, taco sauce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, Mexican rice, refried beans, nacho chips & salsa

Baked chicken in a light mushroom sauce(I've asked for the sauce to be on the side since everyone doesn't eat mushrooms but it's soooo good) Roast sirloin in gravy, green beans, mac&cheese, salad bar, mashed potato bar and rolls. We'll also have apps passed during cocktail hour
