What's a average price for a wedding dress?

What's a average price for a wedding dress? I found a dress that I love and it costs 1250. Is that reasonable? Also how much are alterations usually?

I paid $420 for mine and it looks like it's with 3000$. Honestly try to find something lower. I got mine half off which was still a great deal. I couldn't justify spending more than $500 on a dress I'll wear once

My dress was almost 2,500 here in the states.. We ended up getting it from Canada for $1,700 with the conversion rate, veil $300 and alterations $633.

My dress was $1850 plus $150 for a custom length. It was a gift from my momma and dad though. I would have never been comfortable spending that amount. I still struggle with them paying that amount.

Most of the shops we were going to the average was around $1500, but it depends on the stores in your area, the lines they carry, etc. I found it in the first shop and they said basically all of there dresses were under $2000. They had one rack of "designer" dresses that were over $2500, one rack that was specifically under $1000, and a sample sale rack. My budget was $1500, so we stayed away from the designer rack, but basically everything else was open to me. I found "the one" as an Allure Romance and it was under $1000. (My almosts were a $1200 Stella York and a sample of a $1800 dress marked down to $400.)

One of bridesmaids got married in a major city and when I told her my budget she was worried because most of bridal shops there start at $2000. But another of my bridesmaids was bound and determined to stick under $1000, and she found a gown she liked (not my style but still).

Davids has a lot of deals, but I actually found the one's I liked there felt lower quality and mass produced as opposed to the same price at the bridal shops. I also would say BHLDN was a great experience and if you're on a budget has a decent number of options under $1000.
