What went "wrong" at your wedding?

Laura, on August 2, 2020 at 12:44 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 15
Every wedding has something go wrong, at least that's what I've heard. We could only have 14 people at our wedding which I was fine with because we planned on Facebook Live-ing the ceremony for everyone. My brother tried to record it several times, but it froze 30 seconds in. What's worse? It froze the exact second the photographer passed between us and my brother (who was Favebooking.) See picture below.

Other things that went "wrong" are that I forgot to bring my bouquet when I walked down the aisle.
And I almost tripped when my husband stepped on my dress during our first dance.
Oh, and my cathedral veil would not come off so I had to bring it with me everywhere all night.
I loved every second of it. It truly was the best day of my life. If there were no goofs, it wouldn't have been my wedding because I am always doing or saying something awkward and I can laugh about everything 🤣
How facebook froze the whole ceremony...What went "wrong" at your wedding? 1My husband's face when he though I was going to trip during our first dance...What went "wrong" at your wedding? 2Me realizing I forgot my bouquet...
What went "wrong" at your wedding? 3
Did anything go wrong at your wedding that you can laugh about now?

I didn’t have things for my aisle runner to stay so ended up not using it. That was fine though.
The venue of my reception would not let my day of coordinator set things where we had agreed on but honestly that wasn’t bad because I don’t care that the candy bar was on this wall instead of that wall.
My cake sucked - i didn’t have any actually aha but based on what I heard, it was dry! Oh well aha the rest of my food I got rave reviews about. For photography before our ceremony man we didn’t have as much time as we wanted so we forgot some poses but we got a lot of beautiful photos anyway. We rented chairs and the company was supposed to pick them up the same day after the ceremony but they didn’t!!! So we said ok we aren’t liable if something happens then.

We forgot double sided tape and one bit of lace on my neckline wouldn't stay up.

    That's it.

DH and I keep wondering if something terrible happened and no one told us, because... that's it. Nothing else went wrong.

Either that, or everything that was supposed to go wrong just came in 2020.

The music system threw a breaker right before we were supposed to do our first dance - but we just ate first and then danced. The mosquitos were eating me (just me) alive. It started storming about an hour before we were done for the evening. None of it ruined our night.

    1. My dress didn’t fit. It was fine 2 weeks earlier but the day of the wedding it literally just fell down (it was strapless!) My bridesmaid had to pin me into it and I had to hold my arms SUPER tight to my sides the whole ceremony 😭 then I downed so many hors douvres so quickly afterwards to try to get my stomach to grow so it would stay up better hahaha.

    2. They announced our first dance when we were supposed to do speeches first, so it was super awkward.

    3. The MC literally disappeared after turning up the music, but didn’t announce that the dance floor was open

    4. My husband stepped on the glass at our ceremony (Jewish tradition) but the glass pierced through the protective cover and punctured his shoe (not his foot, thank god!) but so it stuck to his shoe and everyone was just like “....mazel... tov.....?” 😂

    5. Our cake flavor was messed up... it was supposed to be one layer mocha and one layer dark chocolate raspberry, but instead it was mocha raspberry and then dark chocolate (I didn’t care at all but my husband is still sooo pissed about this one because the cake was “his” thing hahaha)

There’s probably more but 🤷🏻‍♀️ None of it matters now

OH I forgot the funniest one! My brother was our officiant, and he forgot to say “please be seated” before starting the ceremony. So everyone is still standing and he just goes “dearly beloved...” and I just whispered “please be seated” to him and he’s like “OH, YEAH, please be seated!” And everyone started cracking up 😂 so now that’s an inside joke where we just go up to my brother and say “dearly beloved, please be seated”

We were given different sets of readings to pick from and while religion isn't my thing to begin with, even he was a little distrubed by a lot of the readings (overly sexual or more fit for the time it was written in). So we chose the least embarrassing readings. Side notes relevant to the story - we are very reserved, it was family only, and his younger siblings were doing the readings. So during the ceremony, his brother started reading and we just looked at each other in sheer panic as somewhere along the way the reading was apparently switched and his younger brother was reading one of the more sultry readings. We were sitting there beyond embarrassed but realized then and there that there was nothing else to do but laugh about it. Oh well!

I'm beginning to suspect this is something officiants do on purpose.

I've been to SO many weddings (including my own), where they "forget".

Twice is a coincidence... nearly every wedding I've been to becomes a conspiracy!

Oh no! Well, you may have been better off without the aisle runner. I had lanterns to hold my runner down, but there wasn't enough room for me AND my dad to walk down the aisle. I let him go slightly in front of me when we got to a lantern. It made it awkward lol you can kinda tell in the last photo 🤣 I'm sorry you didn't get any cake! But a candy bar?!? That's awesome!!

Good problem-solving, just moving the schedule around. I bet no one even noticed!

I heard it's good luck for it to rain on your wedding day I'm glad it was at the end of the night though!

I didn't have too many, but I COMPLETELY forgot about all of the rose petals I ordered to scatter down the aisle... I also forgot to grab my bouquet from my MOH after the ceremony, lol. There are a couple photos that you can see my sister in the background just cracking up how I forgot it, oops! lolol
