Trying to add a little flare to our wedding reception. S'mores bar? Cotton Candy machine? Sundae bar? Personalized Drinks?

We had indoor/outdoor sparklers for our reception entrance and included them in our ribbon wand exit too. I would’ve liked them to go off while people were on the dance floor too but the company was impossible to deal with. Oh well, we got some great pictures with them!

We are having sweet and savory crepes at our wedding with heavy hours d'oeuvres. For drinks we are having signature bride/groom cocktails. Thought about a gelato bar but I think we will go traditional with the cake since our food is not typical sit down meal. We are doing a daytime wedding & reception so the family can spend time together in a casual non-party setting. So many things you could do!

We’ll be having a s’mores bar and cigar bar in addition to our candy/dessert bar. We’ll also be having a blacksmith demonstration during cocktail hour (and a wood branding during the reception) along with a couple of beer burros walking around the cocktail hour/reception for a couple hours passing out beers to guests.

For our pirate DW, we had a strolling accordionist playing sea shanty type music in our wine cave reception area. That was fun!

For our 50’s/60’s local reception, we hired a big band and a Frank Sinatra impersonator. Very cool.

As a guest, I would love a S’mores dessert bar! Action stations are fun too like a crepe or omelette station for a brunch wedding, or a pasta station for a dinner wedding.

We’ve got a really high tech photo booth, I’m actually not that excited about it because to me it’s too complicated, but my fiancé is really into it. They’ll be able to choose a ton of different backgrounds and affects and the pictures will not only print out but a digital copy will be sent to their phones too.
We’ve also got 2 signature cocktails included in our package. I’m probably most excited about our pre ceremony open bar and the bar staying open during dinner. I hate when dinner turns into only red or white wine and you’re stuck for over an hour, I’ve also been to a wedding that had cocktails before so you could sip during the ceremony and really liked it. Gives us the party vibe we are going for. So nothing super different but we took out traditions we didn’t like and are doing everything we want so it’s very us

If our budget allows, we’re going to have someone walking around with a trolley that has candy and desserts. We’re having a Harry Potter flare so it’ll be like the lady on the train that says “anything off the trolley dears”.

We are thinking about having a mashed potato bar during cocktail hour. Everybody loves mashed potatoes. We are also having a fire pit area with smores fixins. I've seen a bacon bar that was very popular. Different flavors of bacon...maple, jalapeno etc. It won't work for our wedding. But it was a huge hit at the wedding I saw it at.

Our reception was a cocktail reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres which none of our guests had seen before, but all loved it. We also added little touches throughout the venue that screamed us. We used rubber ducks, a sign that read "Mischief Managed", a selfie station with rainbow flags and unicorn horns, and some of the drinks like wine and seltzer had unique names like Witching Hour and Mermaid Song. There was not one thing that couldn't be traced back to something we love or something meaningful to us.

Anyone from Texas knows how much we love our Whataburger. I'm hoping to do honey butter chicken biscuits (trust me they're the greatest) as the late night snack.

We are having a hot chocolate bar. Also, serving 2 frozen drinks (bourbon slushes & strawberry margaritas) at the bar. Both were really affordable in our area.

We're going to have a photobooth, and since we're getting married at a museum, there will be complimentary tours of the museum for those interested during cocktail hour and the reception.
