What to wear wedding dress shopping?

Liz, on December 22, 2013 at 1:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I'm going shopping for my wedding dress next week!!! I've been reading a lot about what kinds of underwear to wear when dress shopping, and it sounds like a strapless bra and white underwear are the staples! Some people have been saying to wear a slip too - looking for advice here! Is a slip needed? Any other suggestions, other than no thongs? Smiley smile

I just wore my regular colorful panties and a mint green bra. You couldn't see either underneath the dresses. I didn't wear a slip. I did dress up - skinny jeans, heels, a nice shirt - but didn't wear anything else special.

Stick with nude underwear actually so you don't see them through the dress. That's why people recommend the white. A strapless bra is good for trying on dresses. A lot of places have you use their bras and their slips though so it is the appropriate look for the dress. It all just depends.

Just make sure you are properly covered so you don't freak out the person helping you get dressed! That's really the only the you need to do.

I wore yoga pants and a t-shirt. Comfy. Pretty sure I also wore a black bra and black panties. Everything turned out fine. :-)

I wore a VS PINK sweat pants and hoody outfit. Something easy to get in and out of. I wore nude underwear and a nude bra. That worked out fine for me.

Also just a tip, I did my hair really pretty, did my make-up, and wore really pretty dangle earrings. That really helped me get a feel of how I will look in the dress on my wedding day.

If you are going to wear any kind of shape wear, bring that. Also, I dressed up for all three of my appointments (dress or skirt and blazer) but according to a question I asked, that is a bit unusual. But I will say, one of the places I went to has a sign and you can write "the future mrs lastname said yes to the dress" and they take a picture of you and put it in fb. Had that been the place where I bought the dress, I would have wanted to be well-dressed.

Here is a recent thread about how people dressed to go dress shopping, it may give you more ideas/information.

I just wore white panties and a strapless bra, but I don't get embarrassed by the sales attendants seeing me in my undies so I didn't feel like I needed anything else lol.

I just wore my regular panties. At DB they gave me the slip and corset bra to try the dresses on with anyway.

I just wore my black bra and black panties. I ended up using their bra and slip so it didn't even matter.

I wore a strapless bra and leggings while hopping in and out of dresses. It was a small wedding dress boutique and my family was in the room while I was changing. And about wearing black.... I think it was a great choice because I easily saw if a dress was see-through or where my underwear would show which was helpful.

I just went in there wearing regular bikini cut panties (they were blush and a silky-type of material) and the bridal shop let me borrow a strapless corset to wear which was GREAT. Nothing else!

Definitely wear underwear - I worked in a bridal shop and you would be surprised how many don't!! Smiley smile the store should have a strapless bra for you to borrow if you don't bring one.

If you have shoes picked out already you could bring those, or if you have jewelry you know you will be wearing, or a veil etc.
