What to wear under ball gown wedding dress?

Kimberly, on October 11, 2020 at 10:01 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
My wedding dress is a strapless ball gown. I have a long line bra (corset) to wear but I’m not sure what else I need. I am a plus size bride but I don’t feel shapewear is necessary given my dress is a ball gown and the bodice being strapless will be pulled in snug. Our wedding will be short with only 3 hours but I still think I need something to keep my thighs from rubbing together. Any suggestions?

I’ve seen lots of brides suggest Bandalettes, but I would try them before the big day to make sure they work for you. They’re definitely a sexier option than what I went with. I wore biker short type shapewear on my wedding day and it prevented the chub rub, but they do come up around your tummy. If you’d prefer not to wear anything extra, the Monistat anti-chafe gel has worked wonders for me!

Snag Tights Chub Rub shorts are amazing. They’re super light, very comfy and work well.

Great suggestions! Thank you, I’ll look into all of those. I think I’d prefer not to have to wear anything extra since I have the long line bra to help smooth down over my hips and then it is a full ball gown. Thank you!

I just rubbed baby powder on my thighs to keep them from chafing.

Mederma has an anti chafing gel that works wonders if you don’t want to wear undershorts.

I've never had much luck with baby powder, but thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate it.

I would try to find a comfortable shapewear - not for the compression but so you have the shorts and high waist. You could also do a thin pair of nude or white biker shorts.

I also had a strapless ballgown and I wore nude-colored spanx under my gown. They weren't anything special--they were the normal spanx that I usually wear under fancy dresses but they did the trick!
