What to say on the invitations!!

Shelbi, on July 6, 2021 at 12:01 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
Hello! I have a dilemma, I have no idea how to word our invitations!
I like the traditional announcement of the brides parents, but my father is deceased and I still want to include him on the invitation.

When a parent is deceased it usually goes,(Brides name) Daughter of(Mother of bride and the late deceased father of bride) And (Grooms name) Son of(Grooms parents) … and so on
Buuut I like it when the brides name and the grooms name are together and not separated.
How do I traditionally add my deceased father onto the invitation while keeping my name and my fiancé’s name together??

Have you considered starting the invitations with “together with their parents”?

Yes. But I feel like that doesn’t really make sense, because my dad is deceased. But that could be an option

I think the only way it would be clear that your father is deceased is to state stating “and in loving memory of [name]” next to your mother’s name, though to me it would read like a funeral announcement rather than wedding invitation. I think “together with their parents” would work best but you may personally prefer the other idea – at the end of the day, it all depends on the wording you like best.

Obviously, you cannot use present tense, Mr. and Mrs. Doe invite, but there is no reason to not use his name as an identifier. You are invited to the
marriage of Angela, daughter of (mom's name) and the late (Dad name). This is so common that the style section of any printer of invitations gives examples, online or in books.
