What to do with veil after wedding?

heidi, on November 24, 2015 at 4:12 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

My dress is undergoing the very real possibility of becoming a quilt. But I have no idea what to do with my veil. I also have my mother's veil.

I'm not a fan of hanging them unloved in the closet. Should I donate them? Give them away to other brides? Any crafty things that could be done?

Well, my brother spilled his beer all over mine so it is currently sitting in my guest room and I have no idea what to do with it. I would donate them if you can.

Do you have any friends or family getting married soon? You could offer your veil as their something old or borrowed.

We sold ours. They are a lot easier to sell than dresses, because you don't have to worry about fit.

You can sell them. Seeing how expensive they are it would be a nice gesture if it is in good condition. =]

I'm having mine preserved with my dress. I'm realistic that no one will likely ever want to wear my dress again... but a veil I could see!

If I ever get around to it, I plan on putting mine in a shadow box along with some other wedding things like the invites, some personalized napkins, a picture or two. Just a way to save it.

^^ Secretly wear your mother's veil around the house, and donate yours to a friend/bride/future bride in need as something borrowed.

I will probably sell mine as a bonus to go with my dress lol unless one of my friends is in need of a veil, I would gladly give them mine.

I'm going to have mine cleaned then store it. My plan is to keep it as an option for my sisters, cousins, and future daughters to use as their something borrowed/old if they want. My family is Big on wedding "hand me downs" so some of my cousins have already expressed interest in using mine. I'm also the first grandkid to get married in my family

I couldn't let go of my veil. I put too much work into it!! That, with my bouquet and shoes I have in a keep sake trunk.

I've worn mine three times since the wedding...but its a fascinator hat with a birdcage veil.

I'd donate/sell it if you can, but keep your mother's veil.
