What to do when you don't want "first dance"...

Stephanie, on May 15, 2017 at 4:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi y'all! So future hubby and I aren't so big on the "first dance" thing.. basically, we have no rythym. No, we're not going to take classes haha. But we wanted to know if y'all had any ideas as to what we could do in it's place... Thanks in advance!!

We didn't do one. We just skipped it. I think trying to replace it with something else could be even more awkward.

We did like a minute of our dance and then DJ invited everyone in to join us. We (I) have no rhythm either. In my dress you couldn't tell. We did the prom sway kinda dance.

We're just skipping it too (i have TONS of dance moves but FH dances like one of those inflatable tube waving arm guys at a used car lot) and just basically rolling right into our dancing playlist once the cake is cut.

Just skip it. I went to a wedding once where the brides cousin sang "Unchained Melody" (he did a fantastic job), and the bride and groom just stood on the dance floor and watched him because they didn't want to dance. It was really awkward for the rest of us.

I'm not very coordinated either, but we're doing something of a first dance. About a minute of a song or so with just the 2 of us on the dance floor (prom sway, I guess?), then having the DJ invite all married couples to join us till the end of the song, then it's a free-for-all on the dance floor

There is no rule that you MUST do a dance. Just skip it if it's not your thing.

just skip it! No harm in that! Actually, most guests are bored out of their minds during all the dances anyways

We are not into the first dance thing either. What we decided to to was invite all of the married couples to the dance floor for a larger "first dance." That way all eyes aren't on us.
