What sweets did or are having at your wedding?

Patricia, on December 8, 2020 at 3:22 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 28
We're having a rustic fall wedding. I'm having a little cake to cut for bride and groom. I thought about cupcakes but I would love to hear other ideas!

I've seen on Pinterest where there's mini pies in various flavors! I thought that was a really cute idea! Or you could just have regular sized pies in various flavors to make it simpler.

Our friends had customized lollipops from Etsy at theirs and they were a huge hit, especially with the kids!

Donuts, macaroons, and mini cupcakes are also really fun ideas!

We did banana pudding, and peach cobbler (brought it by the caterer) and we did mini bundt cakes (12 different flavors) and a two tiered bundt cake to cut! We got the bundt cakes from “Nothing Bundt Cakes” they were such a hit, and so cheap!

I second the mini pie idea! I went to a rustic backyard wedding where they did this and it was adorable. A donut wall is really cute too. There is a lot of photo inspiration for these on Pinterest. Also - s’mores would be fun! Not sure if you have access to a fire pit or other form of flame!

I've been thinking about doing these macarons and cookies with happiness and good luck symbols on them. What sweets did or are having at your wedding? 1

I think a cobbler would be awesome for a rustic Fall wedding! Pumpkin pie or caramel apples would be a good choice also. So would s’mores, if your venue allows them

We were very happy with an assortment, and had a couple of layer cakes, baklava, pies, apple streudel, and canoli, and 2 kinds of cheesecake. And an assortment of lemon bread, orange bread, date nut, cranberry and blueberry, that came with either cream cheese or a thin frosting to drizzle over it ( same as the apple streudel) . After the main dessert serving, we left it out on a condensed buffet of sweets, all night. We had counted 3 not 2 diamonds of baklava, and with 2 large trays, and more immediately went to that, than anything but the spice cake with hazelnut cream frosting, a huge log layer cake. Practically inhaled it. Then later everything went. Once drinking and dancing started, all the barely touched breads went steadily, jappily with frosting ( cheap) or nothing, not cream cheese. Our total for 3 full servings of desserts for 170, plus breads, cost less than any cake quote, about 2/3 of our lowest quote. And that would have been 1 iten allowed for. A lot of people began to go at midnight, our posted 7-12:30 pm. but 60 plus were up til we closed it down at 3am. With 8 items left. Eat more sweets, or fruit breads, less liquor consumed starting with a drop off by 10 pm, even by those there to 3. . Which pleased us.

For fall, smores would be a fun idea if your venue has a fireplace! Mini pies are a cute idea too. Otherwise, tiramisu, donuts, cookies, etc.

We're just planning to serve cake.

If you're having cake, just go for a larger size instead of cupcakes. It's less labor intensive for the bakers. Other options for fall are cobblers, pies, brownies, crepe or waffle station, cheesecake.

We are doing the cake and a s’mores bar. The wedding is in Chicago so we are also doing custom cookies with different landmarks for the guest favor.
