What should the groom and groomsmen wear for a beach wedding?

Liz Ann, on February 17, 2015 at 4:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

We are having a 6:00pm sunset ceremony in the Riviera Maya. It will be too hot for them to wear traditional tuxes but I'm thinking shorts are too casual (especially for the groom). Do you have any suggestions? Something nice and comfortable but not too casual?

Thank you!! Smiley smile

Around here in Hawaii people usually wear khaki slacks and an aloha shirt or white shirt with a boutonniere. Sometimes a vest looks nice too. The pictures below are what I'm thinking. Usually no shoes for a beach wedding, or fancy flip flops (yes they do exist)!

Light grey could also work, and baby blue shirts could also work if you don't want white.

The only other wedding I went to (in my adult life) had sparrow tailed tuxedos, so no other help there other than pinterest lol!

Thanks Happy! I really like the look of the vest with no jacket and that will help with the heat.

I was talking to FH and we agreed for him, either shoes or bare feet but no flip flops. We were thinking that flip flops for the groom just seemed too causal but maybe that's crazy? lol

I'm trying to convince FH to stick with HappyinHawaiis first pic, but maybe have the GM be in light blue shirts.

I think that's a good casual look for a wedding.

Around here people would call these their "dress slippers" (people call flip flops slippers). They are leather. My FH has a pair to wear for nicer occasions lol! I just feel weird walking on sand in closed shoes, so I'd personally want flip flops, sandals, or nothing at all. But I also understand having the "flip-flop" sound isn't the best haha!

Yeah the only thing my FH complains about is that they're kind of heavy since they're fancier and made of leather, making it a bit more difficult to walk in. So if your FH gets them, he might need to break them in a little! But it's funny around here, the pastors at church on Sunday even wear slippers like those. That is considered their "Sunday Best" haha! I think FH got his at Kohl's in the summer time, so they're not too hard to find, and look nicer than just a cheap $5 pair from Walmart.

Happy, I bet our local surf shop has these. That's so cool that pastors wear these to church! As a CA girl, I wear flip flops all the time! If I was allowed to wear them to work, I totally would! Thanks for all your help!
