What role can my 17 year old girl cousin have in the wedding??? Help

SoontobeMrsGlover, on January 5, 2014 at 8:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

So I had already decided I'm keeping my wedding party small..For me it elevates stress and we are on a budget with this wedding..3 GM/BM's, one flower girl, and my sons as ring bearers. Recently went to my aunts to discuss wedding stuff and my little cousin asked what will she do?? I'm not sure, I know there is something she can help with or do? Any ideas? Thoughts?

Yikes...that is small? Smiley winking I just posted similar...NO BP for us, but just decided that I really do want my 2 year old grandson in ours. And now my close friends granddaughter, too. =) Was worried about what my then 10.5 year old would do...working on it!

She could be your personal assistant...that would feel SUPER important! Smiley winking I need one of those!

I'm having the girl that I assist after school read something at the wedding. She'll be 17. She has some special needs and is so excited! I think a combo of reading and something like Erica said. The last wedding I was at there was a little table set up on the way down to the outdoor ceremony and two ladies were helping people remember to sign the guest book and collecting envelopes. I'd never seen that at an outdoor ceremony.

Special photographer? Ask her to capture things she sees that you and FH won't -- look up guest photo scavenger hunt for ideas of a list to give her. She'd feel included, but you wouldn't be pressured into having her around when you're getting ready. She can catch guests as they enter, etc. Heck, if she's even tech savvy enough (at 17, I'd think so) she could make her photos into a photo book for you.

    Other ideas:

    Pass out programs?

Gift table and card attendant? -- not to hover, just to keep an eye on and "straighten" and prettify as needed

Guest book attendant? (Though IMO this job is unnecessary and sucks)--especially if you're doing something unique like a finger print one

Junior bridesmaid In a coordinating dress, not matching BM dresses? -- Jr BMs are too old to be flower girls, yet too young to be BM

She doesn't have to be in wedding, and you shouldn't feel bad about it. She's family, right? (I'm on my app, I can't go back and look at OP) She'll be in pictures. You can ask her parents to play up how special that will be.

The more I think about my "special photographer" role idea the more I like it. Be sure to direct her not to get in the way of the professional photographer, and to make sure she still enjoys herself as a guest. I'd emphasize that any shots she gets will be bonus shots, and a lovely extra for you and FH, so no pressure to "get it right" or be perfect. Emphasize having fun with it. And if she's already a Pinterest user, she probably already has ideas of cool photos.

If your having programs, pass those out as the door?! or bubble or something, pass those out at the end! but the photographer idea is really cute too.. she could do both!

She could be a hostess or usher

She could help guests get to their correct tables

Pass out programs or special photographer is a great idea! Or even your "special assistant" - I'm sure she'd be honored!

What about a song, or something?

I played a song on the piano for my sister's wedding when I was 15.
