What length veil for a line wedding dress

A line dress brides that wore or are wearing a veil which length did you go with? I know it's personal preference but I don't know what to choose.

My dress has a modest chapel length train, so I am going with a cathedral length veil that I am having shortened. I want the veil to extend beyond my train so as not to cover it, but I don’t need several feet between the end of the train and end of the veil. So we will be shortening it so that it extends about 16 inches beyond my train.

Do you have a train? does your dress have a lot of detail? I have an a-line dress but I'm not wearing a veil - my dresses has a lot of detail and I don't want to cover it up really.

I think it depends how much detail there is on your train, and the style of the dress - moreso than the actual silhouette of the dress. Also, depending on the design of the dress, there may be an obvious place on the dress to cut across with the veil, for example, if you have beautiful lace detailing on your train or an illusion back, it would make sense to have a veil that doesn't cut halfway across those details. The other thing to consider is the level of drama you want your veil to give. A long veil is generally going to be much more dramatic than a shorter one, if this matters to you.
