Traditionally, it's supposed to be something borrowed from someone who has a long successful marriage. Well, I would have borrowed my grandfather kerchief, but since my grandmothers death we have been estranged... I don't really have any family. They are all scattered and don't speak often, so I am looking for some creative ideas. Because, honestly I am just stumped and a little depressed over it.

My grandmas ring my pap gave to her on their 45th anniversary. He died when I was 10 so it means more to me then something borrowed it's also something to remember he's still going to be there for us.

The "borrowed" item was hard. I had already bought my necklace and earrings. For "old" I wore my mom's original wedding ring. That really only left a bracelet. So I borrowed a bracelet from my best friend.

I'm borrowing a little gold cross pin from my mom. It's been worn for every wedding and christening in my family for over 100 years.

I am borrowing a ring from FMIL that belonged to mt FH grandmother that he had bought for her years ago before she past away. Apparently she wore it almost everyday and he was a Major grandmas boy, never seen a boy that loved their grandmother as much as he does. So I am so happy to get to wear that piece of her for him on our wedding day

Uny Bride, what about your undergarments under your dress, or shoes for something new?

I'm wearing my grandmother's earrings already. I hadn't thought about asking my sons if they had received anything I might be able to borrow. I am considering writing my grandfather, and at least trying to patch things up. My hope would be by my wedding he might be amicable enough to send me something to use. He's like my dad. This estrangement has gotten me torn up. I lost them both, at the same time. After several back surgeries all the pain meds have altered his personality some what. He's meaner. When he was caring for my grandmother as she was dying, it just became too much. There's 11 yrs difference between the two, and I think even though he knew it would probably go down like this (her first), he couldn't handle the thought. He tried to accelerate things, to alleviate her pain and his burden. When she told us that he had pinned her down to force morphine, we had to tell someone. Everyone in my family looked to me to handle everything. It ended pitting me against him, while trying to advocate for her rights. Her Dr had her removed from the home and put in my aunts. She died about a week later, just after I left. He blames me for not being able to be with her. Horrible things were said to her and me. I was threatened, it was awful! I've forgiven him... but he hasn't me. I just miss him so much Smiley sad

I'm borrowing my grandmother's bible from my sister. It's supposed to be something borrowed from someone with a long and happy marriage. FMIL offered to loan me a pendant, but I'm not wearing a necklace at all.

I originally wasn't really going to do any of those traditions... but then I was feeling extremely cheap the day that I started to think about my jewelry, and one of my best friends/BMs has the most AMAZING Kate Spade earrings...

I borrowed my mom's double strand pearl bracelet. We almost forgot it, but my gramma got it from my mom's house on the way to the venue and dropped it off to the coordinator! Smiley smile

My something borrowed is also my something old - it is my Grandma's (my Dad's mom) lace handkerchief that she carried when she married my Grandfather; she gave it to my Mom to use on her wedding day.
