What is your something borrowed?

mlw, on May 23, 2016 at 3:39 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34

Traditionally, it's supposed to be something borrowed from someone who has a long successful marriage. Well, I would have borrowed my grandfather kerchief, but since my grandmothers death we have been estranged... I don't really have any family. They are all scattered and don't speak often, so I am looking for some creative ideas. Because, honestly I am just stumped and a little depressed over it.

You could either borrow something from someone who's close to you. That is not necessarily family or you could skip the borrowed thing. I personally I'm not doing a lot of the traditions

When my parents died, I got my mom's wedding set and my sister got my dad's wedding band. So my something borrowed was my dad's wedding band - my sister let me wear it on my right hand next to my mom's.

I plan on borrowing a brooch from my mom and putting it on the handle of my bouquet. Do you have a close friend you can borrow a pin from?

I am planning to only wear a wedding band after we're married. I am currently wearing my mom's engagement ring (my parents just celebrated their 36th anniversary!). So I am counting that as my something borrowed.

Technically, my Something Old is also borrowed. After my grandmother passed, my sister and I each got a piece of her jewelry. I plan to wear her diamond studs (which were given to my sister) for the wedding.

I'm struggling with this too. I am considering counting my something old and something borrowed as the same item: my great-grandmother's pearl necklace. I am technically borrowing them because I will be returning them to my grandmother after the wedding. I am fairly certain that I will be inheriting them eventually, but they do not belong to me yet.

My something borrowed is the headpiece my Sister and MOH wore on her wedding day over 10 years ago. I picked it out for her back then...who knew it would look so good with my own dress so many years later!?!

My something borrowed was my veil. We plan to pass it to all the women in my family that get married.

Eta: it was borrowed from my sil. So you can try that as another way to include them if you are close with them.

My rings are FH's parents rings (dad dies when he was 15). So that is my old.

    Borrowed: his mom's BFF's pearls.

Strangely enough I haven't worked out the something new yet. My dress and shoes are not new. Don't have blue yet either...and only 9 days left to figure it out!
