Personalized anything is a waste (in my eyes) and all the little things that I didn't think to originally include in our budget that are stressing me out now.

Welcome bags and favors. Most end up in the bin or at a garage sale.

Some of these DIY projects that look nothing like the inspiration pictures.

PTSK, me too and none were left. And there you have it--I loved our programs and they were all scooped up as well. The decorations? Some are still in the bin.

@FMPribula, be excited about your favors! I loved mine.

This thread is dumb. As long as you can afford it while properly hosting your guests nothing is a waste of money. This thread only serves to make people like FMP feel bad about their choices.

We aren't doing personalized anything. Just don't have the funds and I don't believe its necessary for us. No chair covers for us either. Our venue charges too much for them. our STDs we got for a steal, so I can't complain about them. Even our invites were nice, and 50% off, so can't complain.

We are planning on doing wine for favors. To some a waste, to me--it's heaven. I love wine and figure if guests don't take it, the more for us!

Yes, Kimmy. I don't like the "and...go!" on posts but whatever. Some hills are not the one we choose to die on.

I think it's only a waste if it doesn't get used. So before you spend money on anything, just have a good think about how it fits in to your day and make sure you can see the quality. You don't want to spend good money on something, and then it's poor quality or doesn't have a use on the day. I get so tempted when I see "cute" things on sale, like "I'm sure I'll find a use for this at my wedding". But unless I know what that use is, I try to pass.

The one thing I am worried about being a waste is the lawn games. A colleague of mine had them and she said no one used them. But I've had 2 other friends attend weddings with lawn games and both of them said everyone loved them. I guess it depends on the crowd. And I'm not sure how gamey my crowd is. But I already paid the deposit on the vendor, so ... I guess now we wait and see.

"Pninas fairy princess stripper gowns" ... Dying!

Don't be butthurt folks! This is all just a matter of opinion! What's going to be a waste to one person may be essential to another. It all depends on budget and style.

To me a dress over 5k is wasteful (my budget was 1k but even if I had no budget I couldn't do it) , signs, grand floral centerpieces, expensive invites.

However I am having favors, because I found something that's pretty perfect and it's only going to cost me $100 total.

Definitely programs and most favors. Our guests loved our favors because they were soy candles, but nobody wants a glass with your name on it. SORRY!

Candy bars/popcorn bars etc. They make a mess and barely get used.

The customized hanger I bought, the custom postage stamps we used, the lipstick I bought specifically for the wedding, the favors that we meticulously put together.

The stupid chairs I'm renting that are costing me $1100 with delivery and set up. Our venue has chairs, free chairs. But I couldn't get over how ugly they looked, so I'm wasting stupid money on chairs.

Customized signs- serious waste as well. I will have one (for unplugged ceremony), but I'm making it myself with my cricut!
