What is considered as old?

Jaime , on January 4, 2017 at 2:24 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

I recently moved from Florida to Tennessee and instead of bringing a lot of stuff with me I just took necessary & brought all new stuff for everything else. So everything I have is about a year old. I know what I am going to use for borrowed, new & blue. But I have no idea what I can do for something old. What is considered as old? 1year, 3years, 5years, 10years?

I have a tiara that I wore for my sweet 16th birthday. Could that be used as my something old?

    Huh?

What is considered old is up to you.

Grandma's jewelry? Mom's jewelry? Someone else's garter or veil?

My something old is a necklace I got for my birthday 3 or 4 years ago. It's whatever you think is old to you I guess.

I consider "old" anything you didn't buy specifically for the wedding and already had.

I interpret it as something that wasn't bought specifically for the wedding. As in, new would be bought for the wedding, old would be anything outside of that that would have been used beforehand.

I didn't bother with all of that. Neither did my mother, and my parents have been happily married for almost 40 years. Neither did the 2 brides, whose bridal parties I've been in. It's not worth confusion, stress, etc.
