What is a typical budget for a wedding?

What is everybody's typical budget for their wedding. We are paying for this all by ourselves. So i dont want to go blind into planning. I did the estimated budget for everything and I think I got about 23,000. approximately. Is that pretty accurate.

FH & I figured on $20K. Right now with all payments figured in we are at $18,500. And I am always looking for the best deals and options...and we are figuring on about 100 people and we are in the Chicago suburbs.

It really depends on what you choose. Your biggest cost is your reception. The bigger your guest list, the more you will pay. What you want to do is think about where you can cut corners and NOT waste money on. Like invitations...why spend thousands on invitations when most people throw them away. Also Favors....don't go all out. Then think about your reception and what is really necessary. You will discover alot of things tha will "woooo" you but yet costs an arm and a leg. Ask yourself...do you really need that? The dollar store has alot of wedding things also. The key is to shop around for the best options. I never thought I'd be up to over 20,000.00 on this wedding, but it adds up VERY fast. Pay for as much as you can up front and pay it off. I think now we have only about 6000.00 left to pay and it will be paid off about June. No credit cards, no debt. That way we can have all our wedding bills behind us by time we get married.

I actually just read an article that said the average cost of the american wedding is just over $29,000.

it is amazing seeing the price ranges here - - i am sure some due to the locations and styles of weddings . . .and some due to the crafty diy brides we have.

We're spending about $3500 and that included the honeymoon and $500 in gas to get to CO and back...it's like everyone said, your decisions determine how much you'll spend. We opted for a small small small DW, whereas if we had a larger wedding in town it would have been more expensive.

It's like asking what a car cost. You could go to the courthouse and be just as married as throwing a million dollar bash. I would sit down and work out what you can

afford, then estimate how many guests, then work out what works within that budget and guest list.

There is no cookie cutter budget for a wedding, even though in bridal books and magazines they can give you national averages.. but its always different from bride to bride. What you budget should be is what you can realistically afford to save between now and your wedding date. Personally I have a very very small budget, and we're doing our entire wedding for $2,411 according to the budget tool on here. We're only able to do this because we are fortunate to have a dj and a photographer willing to do this all for free and I am doing all the flowers myself and using fake flowers and doing our own food.

I started out thinking our wedding wouldn't cost anymore than $20k. Now, after getting more into it and find out costs, we're probably going to spend around $45k. It is a US destination wedding with about 100 guests.

My only suggestions is to over plan and under spend. You'd be amazed at the 'little' things that end up adding a lot to the final budget.

My suggestion to you is to use $20k as your starting figure. Start researching locations, vendors, dresses, etc. Revise your budget. There are many regional variables that don't allow for a simple "yes, or no" answer to your question. The best way to know is to do some research.

As everyone said, prices depend on what region you live in, when you are getting married, and what style wedding you would like to have.

We are having a DW in Vermont. Our budget for 60 people is $7K.

This figure does not include wedding attire for either of us, wedding day jewelry, wedding bans, attendants gifts, or our mini moon.

I say decide how much you can spend (rather it be your money or your parents giving it to you as a gift) and work around that. If you are in the Dallas area (which I think I saw up there somewhere) I can help you find a ton of deals if you need them. I've come in way under budget on everything thanks to sales stalking and coupons : )

We spent a shade under 10K for 90 people in Washington DC. This is way under the average cost in our area.

We saved money by going with a nontraditional venue (a pub with good food), DIYing the centerpieces and invites, using pinwheels instead of bouts and bouquets, and getting my attire from a sample sale and accessories from Forever 21.

I am interested in the 3000 dollar for 100 people. Is that correct? If so that's super cost conscious.

I threw a grad party and spent more
