What Info Does Your Point Person Need?

Teresa, on September 5, 2019 at 4:29 PM Posted in Planning 1 8

Pretty much everything is done for my wedding next week. But my MOH told me awhile ago that she'll do anything and everything to help me out on the day. Problem is...i'm not sure what I should tell her.

What information does a point person need?

I personally wouldn't put your MOH to work on your wedding day. Your nearest and dearest should get to enjoy the day with you. Maybe you could ask her to do small things like make a playlist to listen to while getting ready, pickup breakfast or coffee, or keep an eye on the clock to make sure that you're following your timeline.

I'm making sure all my VIPs, bridal party and parents, have the timeline and the vendor contacts (ideally a one sheet). If the DJ is late, heaven forbid, then I want to make sure someone other than me or FH can call and find out what is going on. Maybe also give her the tip money or final payment envelopes for vendors like photo, catering and DJ so she can give them out at the end of the night. She could also know were your decor should go at the end of the night, things like cake topper and toasting glasses. She could also be in charge of gifts and cards at the end of the night to make sure they get home safe.

Hey Teresa! It's so kind and thoughtful of your MOH to offer to help you in this way!

I agree with Caytlyn that you don't want to put too much on her plate as you obviously want her to enjoy the day. Asking her to keep track of the time to make sure that everything is running to schedule is a great idea. It also wouldn't hurt for her to have the contact details for your vendors just in case.

I am not making anyone "in charge" of everything. There are a couple things I have assigned the mothers and grandmothers to do on the day of, the brothers will be picking up our donuts and myself and my girls will be doing finishing touches on the reception area in between hair, makeup and all that. I have a bright colored binder with everything in it ( contracts, guests names and addresses, timeline, contact info for every vendor, everything I have purchased, everything payment I have made, literally everything lol). THis way if something comes up I can be like hey whoever finds the binder so and so needs this or whats so and so's phone number so we can find out what time they are bringing the food over or whatever the case may be.

My photographer wanted phone numbers of my MOH and best man and I was like uh noo? They are gonna have no idea what's going on besides showing up the day of. They don't know nitty gritty details of the wedding. I gave her my coordinator's number as the first resource and my mother's as the second.

The timeline would probably be the easiest thing that she can handle without it taking over her day. Great idea!

Yes, it was so nice that she offered but you're right to ask her to handle everything would be a bit insensitive of me.

Ooh a binder is a good idea! This way if one of the vendors has a question all of the information is in one place. Thanks!
