What if no one comes to my wedding!

Mary, on May 22, 2014 at 2:10 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

We sent out about 90 invitations and accounted for roughly 188 guests, and so far only 57 have RSVP's. We went through and looked at who was likely to come and who we knew for certain wouldn't come and we are only expecting maybe 20 more guests. I'm starting to worry the reception hall and giant church will be empty! I know this is just irrational anxiety, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Did you get a lot of No's that you had expected them to RSVP Yes? Your wedding is still a bit away, people won't respond until very close to or after the deadline.

What is your ideal number of guests?

What's worse is people RSVPing Yes then No Show!

There were a few people that said No that I wasn't expecting. Our deadline for RSVPing is June 28, and we were going to start calling guests about a week before the deadline to remind the to RSVP.

Most people won't RSVP until the last week or even after the deadline date. I wouldn't worry just yet.

I worry about this. That not many people will come and we spent a bunch of money for nothing. Im really trying to think of an idea where either way it will not matter.

That's one of my biggest fears! We are only inviting about 60, I sent my invites out a week ago and haven't gotten 1 response, it is a destination wedding 3 hours away so I know that it can play a part in the delay.

You still have over a month until your RSVP deadline. I had a very high decline rate, about 60%. We're having a destination wedding. I was upset at first, but at the end of the day, less mouths to feed and the people that will be there are the most important.

I think this is a common fear. We work so hard to plan a nice wedding and want people to see it. I havent sent out my invites yet but I have the same worry.

We invited 90 people and ended up with 50, but everyone has to travel at least 4 hours so we weren't expecting everyone to come. I was a little upset at first, because our venue can fit up to 200 so I was afraid it would feel empty. But now I'm glad it will be a more intimate wedding, we are saving money, and the people who really matter will be there.

You still have plenty of time. A lot of people don't RSVP until the deadline. Either way, fewer people = less expensive!

I know where this is coming from --- i fear that all the time.....our family and my grooms families are quite small so if the people we invite start to say no.....ummmm not sure how many guests we will have :s
