What flavor wedding cake?

Emma, on June 25, 2020 at 1:15 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
Me and FH are starting to think of what flavor wedding cake we want. We are having a small cake for us and then cupcakes. We are going to do a turtle cupcake, he is going to pick one, and then probably a plain vanilla. We just don’t know what to do for our cake.

I did vanilla, white and regular chocolate, cookies n cream, pink champagne. I’m not a fan of the fruit or nut flavors for cake but some people love them.

Those sound delicious! I don’t know how many flavors to offer for the cupcakes. I thought 3-4 was safe 😂

When we met with our baker she gave us a list of her flavors:

We tried almost her entire list but still have 1 flavor left to pick. (I should preface that we are getting married in the Keys so tropical was in our minds)...

We chose our own combination (totally random and even the baker was surprised with our choice as no one had ever done this).... Strawberry cake with passionfruit buttercream. To say that it was amazing is an understatement. Even she was shocked.

Like you - we're doing a small 6" cake and mini cupcakes - the cake our random pick (just to pick a flavor) Strawberry / Passionfruit and KeyLime and Cream Cheese(Gotta have keylime in FL)

We are also doing cupcakes. But having a small cake to cut into and one to take home 1 year anniversary. The one we are cutting into is just vanilla. The one are saving is vanilla with blueberry filling. My aunt is our baker, she recommended doing plain cake for cutting into just in case we do the whole cake smashing. I told my FH that isn't allowed. But better safe than sorry. For the cupcake flavors we are doing vanilla with blueberry filling, red velvet and carrot cake. We are also have sugar cookies and lemon sugar cookies. Along with these mini pecan pie things that are a personal favorite of mine.

Ours has a different combo for the top and bottom tier. The top tier is vanilla bean cake with raspberry mousse and fresh berry filling and Swiss buttercream icing. The bottom tier is red velvet with chocolate mousse filling and Swiss buttercream icing. We are also requesting fresh berries on top because I love fruit and cake. Smiley smile

What options does your baker offer? Every place is different. Vanilla is safe if anyone has nut allergies and eat the turtle.

We're keeping it pretty simple. We kind of ended up with a marble theme with pops of color and FH is picky as all hell so we'll be doing a marble cake. Matches the theme and he'll actually eat it. It's a win-win lol.
