What do the groomsmen do before the wedding?

Amanda, on April 30, 2017 at 5:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

Long story short, I'm attempting to write a detailed itinerary for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, as they are constantly asking me what they have to do or when they need to something. The bridesmaids' version was easy to write, since I've been a bridesmaid before, so I already knew the generalized gist of what the girls should expect. I've been attempting to write the boys' version for nearly two days now, and I really can't figure out what to tell them, and my FH is completely useless... he honestly thought the men get dressed at mens warehouse if that puts into perspective his knowledge of wedding schedules. Do yall have any recommendations or at least a decent time line for the boys? And please, don't use that overused "they just have to show up" line, because honestly, they're asking to do more, and knowing my friends and family, telling them they have responsibility other than renting a tux will make them quite saddened.

I thought they usually got ready together as well - at the grooms home or childhood home. Obviously they need less time so not as early. But I know that's what my FH plans on doing so they can get pictures together because we are not doing a first look

Our wedding is still quite a ways out, but I know my FH is planning on going golfing with his groomsmen the morning of before coming back to get ready.

For another wedding we went to, the groom and his groomsmen all went out for professional shave the morning of.

My FH literally went golfing the morning of. Tell your FH what time he needs to be at the church and ask how long he'll need to get ready. If you want pics of that, make all the groomsmen get ready together. Otherwise, guys take a lot less time than we do!

I took pictures before the wedding with my family and the BMs, but H and the GM didn't take any until they got to the church. Our wedding started at 3:30, so we had the limo pick the men up at 2:30. So I just told them that they all needed to be ready to leave when the limo arrived.

We haven't really talked about it but I know my coordinator said a lot of the grooms/GMs go fishing on the property.

Knowing my FH and his GM they are going to be drinking. Our wedding isn't until 5:30 so they have a lot of time to do whatever they want. As long as they are ready by 4:30 for pictures, I don't care what they do.

Awesome. So it sounds like the groomsmen get to have fun with the groom, then get dressed and take pictures. Smiley xd I really love the golfing and video games idea, and I know FH will be super excited about it.

I think the groom and groomsmen just get ready and chill and drink together. Our grooms suite has a poker table and tv and Couch and kitchen. It's basically a lodge so they'll probably do man stuff. Lol

My DH and his groomsmen went golfing and to lunch, then went to our venue and got ready by the time my photographer told them she would be starting the guys pictures. It was super easy for them!

Huh?? I'm telling the guys to be ready at 2 for pictures. That's it. Why does that need an itinerary? I'll let them decide what they want to do that day. I'm telling my girls the same thing. I'll add in makeup but I don't think I need to make itineraries. Why are yo deciding everything for your FH? Let him be a man.
