We got engaged in September and recently told our families. Now we are getting more involved and serious about planning the wedding. What was the 1st thing everyone tryed to figure out 1st when it came to plan? We are writing our possible guess list and trying to find out how many people to have come to the wedding and reception. But others are suggesting we start with other things such as location and colors. What is your opinion on what should be figured out 1st when it comes to planning?

We started with a loose budget & approx guest count, then venue was immediately next

We wrote out our ideal guest list and came up with a general budget. The guest list ended up begin super helpful because it made me eliminate any potential venue that could not fit our large wedding. The budget actually helped to do the same. There were a few venues that I probably would have fallen in love with if I had seen them in person, but were wayyy over budget, so I'm glad the budget reality hit me before that had to happen. Now I have a great venue that's in our budget and will fit everyone comfortably

We did a rough guest count first to see how many people we wanted/needed there and then looked at vendors to gauge what they cost for the amount of guests we wanted and tried to set up our budget to accommodate that. We made a list of the things that were most important to us and prioritized spending the most on those and decided to figure out ways to cut costs to accommodate the rest.

First we did budget second we set a date. Then the two main things we did after was book the church & venue. After that everything else kinda falls into place. Happy planning Smiley smile

The Number 1 task I wanted to get done was a budget! But at the same time I did a guest list and research my number 1 venue and caterer. I tweaked my budget to go with my venue and caterer and ended up making small adjustments to my guest list. How I set my budget was figuring out what is a realistic number for my fiancé and I to set aside each week, then did the math and got a total. Happy planning!!

100% the venue. Aside from everything booking extremely early, finding your venue will help you to determine an overall theme. It was the most stressful part (so far) for me, and now that it’s done, it’s a huge weight off our shoulders to know where our special day will take place.

I don't remember what the first thing I did when I started planning. I already knew I wanted an outdoor wedding in October in the mountains of North Carolina. I think I started looking at color swatches that matched the deep purple/ burgundy color of some burlap I found in a crafting store.

Picked a date, then dress then venue. We didn't really need to discuss budget as this is our 2nd marriage for both of us, and we know that we don't need to have it all and spend a fortune. My folks are paying half and we are paying half.

I made a rough draft of the guest list and then chose the venue, I felt like I couldn’t really do any other planning without having a set date and the venue booked!

After we got engaged the first thing we did was set a date. We knew we were gonna get married even before the proposal. Then we picked our location which is an area where we both grew up and we still live till this day. We picked our venue, set our budget, and did a rough estimated guest count.

We wrote up the guest list, first then discussed the colors and the number of ppl in the wedding party and the date that we wanted to be married on. We just got around to discussing the budget about four weeks ago.
