We got engaged in September and recently told our families. Now we are getting more involved and serious about planning the wedding. What was the 1st thing everyone tryed to figure out 1st when it came to plan? We are writing our possible guess list and trying to find out how many people to have come to the wedding and reception. But others are suggesting we start with other things such as location and colors. What is your opinion on what should be figured out 1st when it comes to planning?

Budget. Decided on guest list cut offs (kids, whether extended or people we haven't seen in a while are invites). Finalized guest list. Venue and catering research. And get oeganized (weddin checklist)!

The very first thing I did was select my venue. I knew once I found the right place all the other decisions would be easier to make.

I had my colors picked out before I even got engaged but the first decision I made after getting engaged was the photographer. I immediately searched dozens on instagram and found one I loved with reasonable prices, a professional attitude, and a lot of warmth! The photographs were the most important to me Smiley smile

We started small, we decided if we wanted rice or confetti to be thrown at our wedding but those didn't seem like good choices to us so we decided on bubbles. REMEMBER this website sends out tips and hints, one of the tips was to not let the outside (family or friends) Influence your big day, this is something that you need to decide as a couple! Congratulations though!

Our first decision was the date. Then a rough estimate of the budget. We also picked our wedding party. Picking our colors just came along the way.

Getting a feel for the cost of everything. Then working on a budget and trying to stick to it.

Budget and rough guest list should be first then you can start looking at venues

Budget, venue, then guest list. My fiancé had the venue picked out before we got engaged 😂 their pricing is based on how many people so we did guest list after picking them. Then worked on all the other stuff.

My venue we put a $200 deposit and had to tell them about how many guests we would have. They sent us an invoice and set up a payment schedule. Would differ by every venue

I agree with most comments the budget should be first, then a rough guest list estimate and then venue. We didn't discuss budget a lot initially but we have our guest list drafted and that kinda guided us in what venue type (location, included extra's) we were looking to have.

Choosing a date maybe a good thing to add as well so you go to the venue with a date range in mind.

I just remember picking a date and venue. I would recommend budget first because that can help you better decide what date and venue works best for you.

Budget, approx guest list (back check that with the budget on estimated cost per person), venues (back check that too with your budget)... in that order!
