What color is your straight jacket? Mine is purple!!!

MsDani313, on April 13, 2016 at 12:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 69

Things that have been said to me since I started planning...

-Where is my invitation?

-People can wear white to weddings. That is not a bad thing anymore.

-What color are the bridesmaids wearing? I want to match

-If you are family, you don't have to RSVP.

-You know Im coming...why would I need to send an RSVP?

-I will let you know the name of my guest.

-I told {insert random family/friend/person that is not invited} they could come too?

-Can we stay at your house that week?

-Send me a picture of your dress.

-How much are yall spending?

-Whose all invited?

-Is {insert random name} coming? If he/she is coming, Im not.

-It's just one more person!

-Why are my kids not invited?

- That doesn't include my kid, right?

-I'm going to come and help you get dressed.

- Can you ask your mom if I can stay with her?

So WW what questions/statements have you heard that make you want to pop a Xanax, put on your huggy jacket and go play in the bouncy room?

Yes, a major side effect of wedding planning is people asking questions and talking about your wedding. People also get upset if there is no interest shown in their weddings too. Just take it all with a grain of salt. If people are asking about your colors, dress, and other details... that means they care. Sure, some of those questions are annoying ,but its par for the course when planning a wedding.

Both mom and FMIL, what kind of blue? A sky blue, royal, more teal, baby, Navy.... They need to find matching (p.s. I thought mom's don't match bridesmaid?) What time? Where? What's your playlist? Can you add this song? Can I bring potato salad? When can I see your dress? What are the flowergirls wearing? How are you doing hair? Who is the official? Can I see your decorations? When are you sending invites? Avoid these date because we have plans, birthdays, anniversaries... My jacket is blue lol

Haha, when I first saw the title on this I was so confused.

So funny! Hmmm, I would say...

    - "Wouldn't the bridesmaid's dress blend in with the color of the table linens?"

    P.S

My mom wore white and didn't tell me Smiley smile

And some of my bridesmaids decided to get to my house 4 hours late because they decided to get their nails done the morning of my wedding.

So I'd say my jacket was PLUM haha

    BEST OF LUCK, Steph :

The ones I hated the most were:

    - "Why aren't you getting married in (hometown/parents' hometown/city where I always lived in Canada)? I would come if you got married in said city".

    - "Why aren't you having a Catholic wedding?"

    - "Are you pregnant?"

    - "Who are your BMs? / Are your BMs hot? / I want to hook up with one of your BMs"

My straight jacket was blue Smiley smile

@patches -- "Can I bring potato salad?" I'm sorry but that is the funniest thing to me for some reason.

The only awkward thing that has happened to me (so far, fingers crossed) was one of the groomsmen LITERALLY moments before FH planned on asking him to be a groomsmen said, "So I'm definitely invited to the wedding right? Since I'm not in the party?" This was probably 2-3 weeks after the engagement and the first time we saw him in person since. Admittedly he is the most socially inept person I know but still.

I didn't get a whole lot of rudeness, but I DID get:

    -How much are you spending?

-You're ONLY going to Disney for your honeymoon?

-Can you provide me with a list of things to do? Can I stay at your place?

After receiving the STD: "I got your invitation and of course I'm coming." Since when do people send a magnet with just the date of the wedding as an invitation. I would want more info than that. These people better not think that telling me in person that they were coming without even receiving an actual invitation is their RSVP.

My straight jacket is black. Best question so far has been "how could you get married the same day as -name- on the same ship?! You're ruining her wedding!" ETA I don't even know the girl...

I'm dying over "Can I bring potato salad?" People are crazy!

I've had a couple people make the "I better be invited" comment, but other than that not too much crazy stuff! Mostly just friendly curiosity/small talk. I guess there have been a couple people who've asked me "When's the funeral... Oh I mean wedding HAHAHA." Gross.

We didn't give +1s to FH's fraternity brothers since there are a LOT of single ones and they'll all be traveling as a group. One asked why he didn't get a +1 and FH responded that only people in actual relationships got them due to the number of true singles. His response was "Well, what if I've been f***ing this girl consistently for like two months, I just don't want to introduce her to my mom?"

Because the type of girl you wouldn't want introduce your mother to is really someone we want to spend over $200 on.

FH and I met at work. I've since left. One coworker in particular was in love with FH and hated me because of it. She outranked me and multiple times pulled me into her office to say terrible things about me and my relationship with FH.

Yesterday she asked FH to let her know when the wedding was so she could put in for leave around that day. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no.
