What bridesmaid expenses are you covering?

Michelle, on November 6, 2021 at 8:19 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 14
For example, if you have any bridesmaids with financial struggles, are you helping out or are you only having attendants who can afford everything on their own and everyone else is a guest?

I paid for hair & makeup for my MOH (my sister) & 1 bridesmaid (my daughter). I didn’t stipulate on how I wanted it done, I did it as a thank you. My other bridesmaid wanted to do her own hair & makeup. I let them choose the style of dress as long as it was red & long.

We will be paying for their dresses, hair, makeup and bouquets. I wanted to make sure everyone enjoyed being a part of our bridal party and it didn’t cause any sort of financial hardship to do so.

I am paying for everything. Hair, makeup, shoes, dress, alterations, accomodation the night before, and a gift on the day. All they basically have to do is show up in the outfit, but that is common where I live, except for shoes, but if they wouldn’t have worn them if I hadn’t asked, I don’t think they should have to pay for them.

I paid for the bachelorette party hotel and multiple rounds of drinks. I also paid for one of my girl’s flights and my moms paid for accommodations for two. In hindsight, I wish I paid for each girl to get her hair or makeup done professionally and also covered the dresses. That’s not typical in my circle, so it didn’t occur to me, but hindsight makes me really wish I had since I had such a short engagement. I kept costs reasonable compared to other weddings I’ve been to and gave very generous gifts, but I still wish I had done more!

I'm paying for hair and makeup for those who want it, including our moms. I'm not requiring a certain outfit, so everyone went off and bought a dress and shoes within their own budgets.

Seriously, since when has the bouquet become an expense for the bridesmaid?

I paid for their dresses. They took care of accessories, shoes, and alterations. I did offer to help with alterations, but they told me no lol. My parents took care of the hair and makeup for all the girls (bride, bridesmaids, and moms) since they offered.

Flowers are not an expense for the wedding party. Neither is hair, makeup, shoes or jewellery for the day. If the wedding couple wants a certain look, they need to pay for that. The only expense for the wedding party is the attire (dress/suit).

I guess it depends on your budget, etc. I’m only having one bridesmaid and my maid of honor. With a tight budget I’m paying for hair and makeup, hair accessories and jewelry and flowers. (Im also paying for my mothers hair and makeup and my MILs hair and makeup which took up some of the budget) I’m asking they buy the dress and shoes

I'm covering jewelry, hair accessories, pajamas, bouquets, "emergency kits," and thank you gifts. They're covering their own dresses, shoes, hair, makeup, nails (manicure or press on, as long as they look nice) and hotel rooms.

I would've liked to cover their hair and makeup too, but it became too much for me. I felt bad, but at the end of the day, my FH said his groomsmen are all covering their suit rental and grooming needs, which includes shoes, suit, shirt, socks, cufflinks, and ties, because it's apart of the position--same goes for the ladies too. It's just unfortunate that women don't get their own little all-inclusive rental package deals the way men do.

I'm paying for hair and makeup, but am not requiring anything specific. I know my girls and know that none of them would be comfortable doing their own and would want to have them done, so I know I'm saving them money that way. As of now I don't believe I'm going to care if they have matching jewelry or not, but if I choose for them to then I'm obviously paying for that as well. I am only specifying color and length for dresses and they can choose whatever shoes they want, so they can pick things within their budget. If someone were to tell me they didn't have the funds to do that then I'd definitely pick that up for them as well.

We're paying for the groomsmen's suit rentals because all of the groomsmen other than my brother live out of state and will have to travel. Their suit rental price comes out to the same amount as hair and makeup for one person so we are technically paying the same amount per person in the bridal party, there are just unfortunately more things for bridesmaids to purchase than groomsmen.

I've been in 4 weddings and the bride has never paid for my hair/makeup or my dress. I didn't even know that was a thing until this forum. I'm not covering anything for my bridesmaids, but I'm also not requiring them to get their hair/makeup done and the bridesmaid dresses are pretty reasonably priced (in my eyes). They're from Azazie and I'm letting them choose whatever dress they want in the color, length, and fabric I chose. I'll be getting them gifts of course!

I am buying their shoes and jewelery. My daughter is doing everyone's hair. They can all afford it. I just decided to do it. I am also making bouquets and reception sneakers.
