What are your signature drinks?

What are your signature drinks? Are they going with your theme or are they the couples favorite drinks? Are you naming them something cute wedding wise or using their actual drink names? Or are you skipping this totally? His/hers Manhattan Mason Dixon Watermelon Refresher

I have been struggling with deciding too FH picked an old fashion but I am not sure if I want to do margaritas, mojitos or a type of rum punch. It’s a cruise wedding so I think they will all work with the theme. But we only get three.

What about a blueberry spritzer? Vodka or gin, some muddled blueberries, sprite or club soda- pretty & simple.

Good point about having signature drinks pre-poured--could be a waste! We didn't do a signature drink either because we only had 15 guest at our wedding (open bar) and although we had 50 at a local reception, the winery venue let us chose 5 wines and 5 beers to offer to guests. Plenty of delicious choices without a signature drink.

As far as "consumption" goes, at my DW the booze went a few hundred over budget...for only 15 guests. Thankfully, we did a flat $19/person at the winery reception. All adults and nearly everyone we invited really liked wine!

We're probably going to skip it, but it's still too early to tell.

We are doing a mai tai—just because we like them. They won’t be prepoured, but will sort of be a recommendation along with the other offers.

We haven’t decided but am thinking of doing a jack n coke for his and some sort of spiked strawberry lemonade for “hers”. Our wedding is in July and I really want a summery refreshing drink for my signature drink that’s either strawberry or watermelon flavored!

We had a 1920s speakeasy theme wedding. Our signature drinks were the Mary Pickford (brides) and the Southside Fizz (grooms). We kept the actual names of the drinks, and the cocktails were mixed at the bar. The Mary Pickford was so popular that they ran out of the rum they were using to make it towards the end of the night. We also brought in 3 cases of a locally brewed craft beer. We ran out of 2 of the beers and the third one we took about 10 beers home.

Neither of us are big drinkers and don't like being around drinking so much either. We want the focus to be on spending time with family and friends and being fully present for it as well. Our drink package includes 1 beer, but our venue suggested we come up with a few non alcoholic specialty drinks to encourage our guests to drink those instead of alcohol for hopefully one or two drinks. Shirley Temple is my all time favorite, so that's for sure going to be one of them.

Any other suggestions for non alcoholic specialty drinks?? I prefer drinks that aren't based on traditionally alcoholic ones, but I'm open to all ideas!

We are having kids and want them to be able to have our signature drink as well so they dont feel left out. We are getting married in December and our reception venue is a castle hall that looks just like the Great Hall in Hogwarts so we are doing a hot and a cold Butterbeer with the option of spiking it for adults (but it will be premixed for the kids). We are also having a Wassail at each seat for the start of dinner - which is a hot mulled cider mixed with a citrus juice, lemon is most common but we are debating a fresh squeezed orange to be a bit less tart for the kids, the spices used have meaning culturally and its meant to bring good luck and fortune for the coming year, this will be in place of champagne so everyone will be able to enjoy the same thing.

Another favorite of my family's from when we were kids is a Mickey Mouse - which is either seltzer or ginger ale mixed with Hershey's syrup (we preferred the ginger ale but the restaurant near my grandparents generally used seltzer and that is what my grandparents kept at home for their drinks). Do you have a theme you can play up?

What about a fancy lemonade? I just threw a party with all FH's sober friends, and I made a giant punch that was: equal parts pink lemonade, berry lemonade, and sprite, with pineapple juice and seltzer...we used frozen berries for garnishes and it was a BIG hit! It also makes a great mixer for alcoholic drinks!

That is why the owner of my venue suggested only having a cocktail hour. This is when and only when our signature drinks will be available, the rest of the night it is beer & wine only. Smiley smile

Can you do a tasting session?

The venue we are using is offering a tasting session for us when we pick the signature drink.

Most likely we will go with premixed drink which is sold to us by the gallon rather than by the glass. We were informed the the premixed drinks are much more watered down and will be served with the cute umbrella and fruit on the cup (ours is a destination wedding in Kona, HI)

We are limiting max two mixed drinks per guest... we have some lushes in the family...

I'll be drinking something I made called "southern kiss". It's a mix of a certain jack, clear soda, and a touch of cherry juice and a cherry.

We did Dark and Stormys with the option of rum or bourbon--nothing too fancy. we're huge cocktail drinkers but also know not everyone loves what we love so we focused on making sure we had a lot of variety of spirits and mixes in our open bar rather than focus on the signature. personally though i love when there's a champagne cocktail of some kind as a signature drink.
