What are your GROOMS' must haves?

Finally mrs.jkr, on July 14, 2014 at 6:44 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 50

We all know that the bride does most of the planning in the wedding, except obviously in same sex couples (but usually even then the majority is on one bride/groom and the other tends to be less involved).....

What are the requests that your Fiance has had? FH wants to do the bouquet and garter toss, and that's pretty much it other than his being adamant that green is one of our wedding colors.

He has been very laid back with his requests. He choose our photographer, I wanted the other one we interviewed, but thought it was appropriate, as his future wife, to fully support his choice!! Otherwise, all he asks is that I plan the wedding of my dreams!! He's been wonderful!

    Edit for typo

My FH'S request was to have a full wedding. I would have been totally cool with a DW or eloping, but he wanted a local, full wedding. We have an afternoon wedding so I was just going to serve cake and punch/coffee. No! FH wants food too, to be more traditional. So we're serving finger foods too. This happens with basically every decisions. He opts for the nicest choice fo the three I present to him. He even voluntarily wants to be in a three-piece suit. Smiley smile

He demanded we have a buffet and that he be able to attend the bridesmaid dress appointment. Other than that he's just asked to be involved in most aspects of the planning.

ETA: I completely forgot that he was appalled when he found out that some men wear suits instead of tuxes so he will definitely be wearing a tux lol.

He has been very laid back. He is happy with most things I choose, but he was very specific about what he is wearing, his ring, he chose the STDs and the invitations and the cake.

Everything. He is a groomzilla, and I love it! He loves wedding planning, and gets so into it. I have been having trouble booking a hair makeup trial with the spa that was included in my venue. FH said he would take care of it and now I have a better stylist they are letting me use(for free), hey he comes in handy Smiley smile

He picked the food. I didn't stand in his way about who he wanted. I would have done something totally different, but I like seeing him happy. He also picked out his outfit.

Those were his "must haves" everything else he's helped contribute his opinion which makes me a happy bride. His opinions might be silly sometimes, but I love knowing that he cares about the details.

My fiance wanted the wedding of his dreams! He knows SO MANY people from all chapters of his life and wanted everyone there. I wanted to do a small destination wedding, but he won.

He also wanted to handle the music selections (for the most part, of course) and the budget - which was fine by me.

Tradition, tradition, tradition. No first look, stay apart the night before, we MUST have a top tier of the cake to save and eat on our 1 year anniversary (I was opposed and don't think we should spend the money on something we aren't going to eat, but whatever) Other than that, he has been pretty laid back.

He wants his groomsmen and himself to wear tuxes. I'd be fine with just a pair of nice dress pants, a white shirt, and a tie.

The *only* thing my groom mentioned was "I don't want to get married in a church" (we're both atheists). Since he mentioned it Day One, it was easy enough to just cross every single church off the list of Possible Ceremony Options and move right on to vineyards, country clubs, etc. Oh, and he did NOT want any instrumentals of songs that people know the words to. A friend had "Somebody" by Depeche Mode played on the harp, and it was all we could do not to giggle. Smiley sexy That was all he asked, though.

He wants double size cake slices for everyone, so nobody feels jipped.

He has basically let me take the reigns on the whole wedding planning thing. There are 3 things he has been insistent on though:

    1--We must have a videographer

2--The tires of the cake are square (I have no idea his reasoning behind it, he just wants a square cake haha)

3--No first look. This is the thing he is most adamant about. I have tried to convince him to do one, for the sake of timing, but he says no no no.

He really wanted nothing to do with the planning. His only request was literally for hot crab dip and the beer of his choosing *shrugs*

ETA: Oh and our reception entrance song HAD to be The Imperial Death March (Darth Vader theme). I wanted "Mirrors" by JT *sighs*

    1. We must have delicious food.

    2. We must have a delicious cake.

    3. We must have a bar with delicious drinks.

Oh, and he hates hates hates first looks. That's about it.

Mine was adamant that we have a big wedding. He is also determined that he is going to wear a vest (I just wanted him in a white button up) he was also insistent that we find a much nicer venue than I wanted but everything else has been in my hands. Oh and he does NOT want my little brother to stand on his side so my poor brother is going to be standing with my girls.

My Groom had 3 requests he would not budge on. It had to be on a Saturday night, It had to have an open bar, and we had to invite all our extended family. Basically we had to spend as much as we could :/

Since I wanted to elope and he wanted a big wedding, I told him that we would do it, but he wasn't going to stick with me with all the work because it wasn't my idea to do this in the first place. Although he severely underestimated how much work went into a wedding and I think now he would agree with me on eloping if we redid this whole thing, he's been unbelievably helpful and I'm super grateful since I'm in way over my head with all this.
