What are you planning for early?

Mrs.a, on March 8, 2021 at 6:56 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
What are you planning early? I just scheduled my first fitting appointment for...August. Am I crazy? Is this too early? Or is this year going to be super busy for weddings? What else could I check off my checklist?

I love WW for these forums but I use The Knot for my wedding checklist & website. It breaks down all the stuff I have to do to very manageable pieces (and doesn’t overwhelm me). Typically you have 3 major dress fittings. My wedding is on 4/3/21 & I started my fittings on January 22. Second appointment was 2/19 & 3rd was on 3/6. I’ll be picking up my dress on 3/31.

That’s so good to hear! You must be getting excited! It’s coming up soon!

The WW budget feature and checklists have been very helpful thus far for me. However, my coordinator has a complete planning portal with these features which seem to be very detailed and a bit more thorough, which I’m excited to use!

I can’t wait until August/September rolls around for our early October Vow Renewal!

If your weight doesn't fluctuate much, I don't think it's too early. My first fitting was in December for my June wedding. Second fitting is scheduled for mid-April. I had pretty much everything planned early. It's now 3 months out I'm just sitting on my hands waiting to send invitations out since I already have all my vendors booked and decor bought.

I don't thinking having a fitting in August for a October wedding is too early.

I have a big bridal party, so I'm already starting the process of looking for bridesmaids gowns.

You’re right, I think the timing of the fitting is just right. I was just wondering if by calling & scheduling the fitting now is too early Smiley smile

I got engaged in September of last year and am getting married this September. We had everything booked and planned within the first couple of months - mainly because booking our venue was so tough, since all of the Covid brides were postponing and things were booking up quick. Looking back, it wasn't that serious LOL. We just were worried about not being able to find certain vendors. We had to go with an out of state photographer because I seriously couldn't find one local!

I think you are totally fine to go ahead with your fitting! I'm all for planning as much of the fun stuff as I can, it's a blast and reminds you how blissful being engaged is! Especially when it comes to dress shopping. I say go for it!

Thanks! Smiley smile It sounds like we’re in a similar boat. We originally planned for last October and still had a very mini ceremony and were hoping to have a ceremony and celebration with our friends and family this year. Luckily I was able to get the fitting one month in advance before our date, it just seemed as though their schedule wasn’t nearly as open as I had expected. We just had to find a new photographer as well! And our venue is changing our event space. So there have been a lot of changes! Smiley smile

    I misread 🤦‍♀️

But I don't think it is too early to schedule it. We're in covid times with so much uncertainty still. If they are willing to accommodate you this early, why not schedule it?

I found my dress about 14 months in advance of the wedding date. Quite early, but I love the dress, and my weight hasn't really fluctuated that much, so it seemed like it was okay to order the dress early.

That’s awesome. I got my dress the day after our wedding ceremony lol, but it’s for our vow renewal so a year in advance, my weight tends to fluctuate so there’s that aspect Smiley smile I’m just relieved to get this stuff scheduled and checked off the list.

I'm so glad you posted this, because I was considering scheduling mine too! I'm getting married on October 2, and the bridal shop I bought my dress at said to schedule my first fitting for roughly two months prior (so at the beginning of August!). I have no idea *when* to call to schedule it though 😅 I don't think you're crazy or it's too soon to schedule at all! Better safe than sorry!

Agree 💯 You should call to schedule now if you can. I can imagine it’s going to be busy this year with the amount of weddings postponed/rescheduled, etc.

I feel you! I ordered my dress from a boutique online because of COVID last year and now since we had to reschedule, it was challenging to find a bridal salon locally that would do alterations on a dress not purchased in the salon. Luckily I found one that’s within reason.
