What are you paying PP for food and alcohol?

PRO only 1.) What are you getting (including Hors D'ouevres)? Is it buffet/plated, and is it real china or disposable? 2.) What kind of alcohol are you serving? How long is the bar open?

$175, including service charge. In a state without sales tax, 4 years ago, with about a $50 p.p.discount in price, because it was not on a Saturday night. Additional cash tips were not included in the $175 price (the tip total we have was for all serving/kitchen staff, the band, photography/videography, floral/décor set-up, etc.)

Top shelf open bar for 5 hours (I assume it was a state rule), wine service, champagne toast, valet parking, and white glove French cart service. They provided a complimentary suite in which the ladies got ready, with water bottles, small sandwiches and fruit. They included a banquet manager/DOC and two assistants. I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting....

Cocktail hours in the northeast U.S. seem to be a big thing. We went to one wedding and my mother asked the MOB if the cocktail buffet was the main meal? It could have been. We had 10 passed hors d'oeuvres, a buffet, and stations. The first course wasn't served until 45 minutes after the cocktail hour ended. The norm around here is to have open dancing between courses, to burn off the calories. There was at least 15 minutes of dancing between each course.

4 served courses: soup, salad, choice of 2 duet entrees or vegetarian, and dessert with coffee/tea. There was also a dessert buffet where our cake was served, among other sweets, chocolate covered strawberries, etc.

P.S. It was real china. They provided complimentary chargers because a soup course was served. Linens also included in our price. It was in a full service hotel.

Food cost is $52pp, it is a buffet with 4 hot apps/entrees and 3 cold apps/entrees. There will be a fruit and veggie station with dips and such. We've added on passed hors d'oeuvres for cocktail hour for $2pp. We haven't decided if we'll add a carving station or not - but that would add $5pp to the cost. That includes real china and silverware. The venue provides all linens/chairs/tables.

For alcohol, we're paying $15 pp and it is an open bar and includes beer, wine, and liquor/mixed drinks for 4 hours.

$135 PP, for a Friday evening in NY.

It included your standard northeast huge cocktail hour (I think 5 hot stations, 3 cold stations, and passed trays), Appetizer duets, choice between 5 options for dinner. Cake was included, and ice cream chipwiches as well. Pre-ceremony champagne, champagne toast for speeches, and top shelf open bar all night.

$23/pp includes family style meal with broasted and baked chicken, baked ham, broccoli and cauliflower, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, dinner rolls, assorted salads, and bars, cookies, and their amazing cream puffs. Plus champagne toast, beer and wine for 5 hours, soda, coffee, milk, and tea. And a pizza buffet as the late night snack. With a deluxe hors d'oeuvre table during cocktail hour. That includes the hall expenses, taxes, and gratuities. Seems ridiculous, but they've been doing weddings since 1922 and I've been to many. The venue is huge and their food is so good!

ETA: I live in Wisconsin if that makes a difference

Cool question! It's been interesting reading all the responses.

Our package is listed at $59.95 for a crudite platter, cheese platter, family style dinner (3 entrees and 2 sides), gold package open bar, champagne toast, signature drink, all linens (including napkins!), silverware, dishes (china), glassware, and basic centerpieces for 5 hours.

I upgraded an entree option ($7 extra PP) and the bar package to Platinum (another $5 PP), AND added an extra hour of open bar ($5.95 PP). Now I'm up to 77.90 pp

Then, we have to add on the 20% (~2,399,32) gratuity and Ohio sales tax (7.5% is ~899.74). We're hosting 154 people. So if my terrible math skills are correct, I'm at about $99.32 pp. GOOD NIGHT.

ETA: Details. We will also have a charcuterie board at cocktail hour that will be brought in from another company FH invests in. It is not part of the costs listed above, just didn't want peeps to think we were cheaping out on the cocktail hour. Smiley winking
