What are you paying for a groom's cake?

6-1-18, on January 13, 2018 at 6:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 25
I forgot to budget for this, but I don't expect it to be too much. We're at and all-inclusive so we get a 2-tier cake from the baker they use and our tasting/design consultation is next week. We want a cheesecake with his favorite football team's logo. Let me see your wedding and groom's cakes and what did you pay?

I'm not paying for one. It's unnecessary. I might do something similar for dessert at the rehearsal dinner the night before.

I'm paying $110 for my FH's groom's cake. I'm excited because it'll be a complete surprise. He's the head brewer at a brewery in town, and I'm modeling the flavor profile after one his favorite beers that they make which is aged in bourbon barrels. And the top is going to be decorated with hop bines asking with our date. I don't have a picture yet, but the shape of the cake is going to be a barrel cask, and they're using bourbon simple syrup in between layers. It's pretty detailed so I'm surprised it's only $110 (I was looking you spend $100.) Hope this helps!

We’re getting a two tier chocolate peanut butter cake with FH’s favorite football team’s logo on it for the groom’s cake. I think the cost is $200.

We aren't doing one. We are having a cupcake bar FH is way more excited about than a grooms cake.

We didn't have one. Instead of a normal cake, we had cheesecake (my favorite) and ice cream cake (his favorite). Our cheesecakes came from Sam's and were delicious. We bought one a few months before to "taste test." Smiley smile Sam's bakery would probably throw a logo on there for you!

We have an all-inclusive that also provides us with a groom's cake as well. My FH will undoubtedly do something DC Comics related lol. Do you have to use their baker for the GC as well? I don't imagine a cheesecake will cost you that much, though.

I have only seen a grooms cake once, and it was because the bride was gluten intolerant so the smaller cake was one she could have. But I was wondering what the purpose of a grooms cake is? Isnt the wedding cake good for both the bride and groom?

From what I understand it's just to show the groom's personality and I guess to have another type of cake 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nothing is necessary if we're being honest, but it's worth the extra expense to me because we both love cheesecake!

We don't have to use their baker, but I figured it'd be more convenient. Publix has the best cheesecake and would probably be cheaper, so I may look into that.

Also if I'm having 40 guests how many people does the groom's cake need to serve?

We are not doing one. Just a cake for us and a dessert bar.

I say skip it. We had our wedding cake and a dessert buffet, so an extra cake would of been nuts. As it was, we barely ate our one cake cause there was dessert overload. Why two cakes though? I say get one awesome cake that you both like.

I'm lucky since our baker includes the grooms cake as part of our contract!
