What Are You Doing With Your Bouquet After The Wedding?

What’s everyone doing with their wedding flowers after the wedding? I’m considering having a piece made from the dried flowers that replicates the bouquet but it’s almost $600 for a 12x12 and I haven’t talked myself into it. The concept is a AWESOME and I know I’d love it but I want to hear everyone...

Mine are faux and we are getting married in September, so I am using them for decorate our first Christmas tree as a married couple.

Then I'll likely sell everything to a bride who could use a bargain.

I hung mine upside down to dry then put the flowers in a shadow box. It’s hanging in our bedroom

I hung mine upside down to dry for about 2 weeks and then made my own shadow box out of it. I didn't think about what to do with it until after the wedding and couldn't justify spending another $500+ after the wedding. I do love how it turned out though.

We left for our honeymoon *early* Monday after our Saturday night wedding. Before we left I tied my bouquet (and his boutonniere) upside down in the bathroom. When we got back they were dry, and we purchased an (inexpensive) shadow box from the craft store, and put them in it. It looks beautiful and hangs on the wall in the guest room. My only caveat would be that Gerbera daisies don't dry well, I had to cut them out of the bouquet.

Is it bad we totally changed our flowers based on learning what flowers keep the best afterward? Haha. I love the idea of shadow boxing it too!

I will be drying out my own bouquet. Then with my bridesmaids bouquets we will be going into a senior center or nursing home and giving away flowers until they are all gone!

Check out Addiesfield on Instagram and Etsy. She does larger things like that and I think it might be cheaper. She is currently doing 3 sets of earrings for me out of my bouquet. I figure if I have daughters, I will give them a pair when they get older.

My bouquet is satin, so i'm still trying to figure that out. I'm thinking of putting in a glass case of some sort and on the shelf in our bedroom so I can see it everyday.

Absolutely not! I wouldn't have changed based on this knowledge, but that's because I was looking for the bright happiness of the Gerberas specifically. If that hadn't played a factor, then I probably would have gone with something else.

Are your bridesmaids aware that you're intending to give away their flowers? As a general rule, they keep their own bouquets to do with as they please.

Thanks! I looked on Yelp and found someone in my area who does this. Not sure if she handles non-local arrangements, but here is the website: http://www.forgetmenevers.com/index.html

I used artificial flowers for my bouquet so right now it's just chilling on the bookcase. I'll try to find a nice vase for it eventually.

You could take them to a local nursing home and donate flowers to the women there. It's neat to because you get to hear very neat stories about their own weddings and get advice if you want it!

One option that a florist shared was to donate flowers to a hospice center after the wedding

I'm going with artificial flowers for my bouquet, so I'll be saving it for a shadow box.

So I am using artificial flowers, BUT I am in love with the idea of taking the flowers to a nursing home (or somewhere similar) the next day as the new Mr. and Mrs. and giving flowers out to patients. You can ask them for wedding advice!

I’m specifically using sola wood flowers so I would have a beautiful keepsake afterwards. We will be displaying them somewhere in the house after the wedding

It depends on what kind of flowers you have in the bouquet. If it's mostly rosses or carnations you could just spray with good hair spray and hang it upside down (helps keep some of the coloring) or I like to just let them dry without any spray (I think they turn out a little cooler) I will add some pictures on how they dry
